Are you gals doing anything differently because of the swine flu epidemic? I haven't really been thinking about it, but recently I've been hearing about more people (friends of friends) who have it and have even died.

Are you staying farther away during dances, being careful to wash your hands a lot... what?

At my club there's a lot of closed mouth kissing (pecks on the cheek and lips), drink sharing, finger sucking... it's really scary to think of what a prime breeding ground it is for a virus like that.
    Yes, I'm real.

Finger sucking gives me the creeps.

Take the same precaution you would with any flu: wash your hands regularly, get enough rest, eat well. I would suggest buying a mini bottle of hand sanitizer for your purse. I also wouldn't recommend kissing anyone during flu season.

H1N1 is really not any more deadly than seasonal flu; 35,000 people a year die from seasonal flu. It's just sensational at the moment.

FINGER SUCKING??!!! I would rather put anything else in my mouth than a guy's dirty finger.

NOT suck the customer's finger! I didn't even know guys were sucking dancers fingers until I worked with this girl last night. I still didn't put mine in his mouth, I'm just saying that there's all these dancers walking around and putting their sucked fingers on doors, poles, the cookie jar...
    Yes, I'm real.

Boost your own immune system, and you'll be better off. If you don't get out in the sun, be sure an add a Vitamin D supplement to your diet. Also Tonalin CLA is an immune booster.

Nothing is better than frequent hand washing.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

I've been using this as a line to get customers to back off since it hit. Whenever some asshole tries to get a little mouth happy, or lets face it, even too hair-sniffy, I just turn, look them in the face, wag my finger and say, "swine flu!" with a big old shit eating grin. see also; "hands at your side, tongue in your mouth. This is a titty bar, not a petting zoo."

Also, now that school is back in session and all kinds of nice germies are being swapped, I've stepped up my game from baby wiping myself after dances to straight spray sanitizer and anti-bacterial wipes. If the average sneeze travels twelve feet, surely the average breath can make it onto me when I'm giving a dance.

We work in an environment where there are alot of germs. Even if the swine flu never happened its really important to be sanitary and remember that money carries the most germs and viruses. Never pick up money with your mouth. Always use hand sanitizer or wash you hands after dealing with money. The swine flu is bad but is mostly a problem in schools with the very young who have not been exposed to the virus particles yet. Another thing to remember is that customers may bring in germs but the barstaff may be ill and spreading things around and can't call in sick because they fear their jobs.Just be aware that the germs may be on every entire surface of your club. If your immune system is low you are likely to get sick no matter what due to the close contact that most clubs have and there is no getting around that. Make sure that you have a proper diet and get enough rest each day, take off at least two day a week you will be the better for it. If you work doubles you are probably going to get sick. The flu season is coming and hopefully it won't be the swine flu season. I work 50 hours at least plus and am constantly spraying door handles with lysol, akeyboards and the atm machine. I never get sick, but I do make sure I get alot of rest. If one of my dancers seems like her throat is sore or she has a fever I send her home. Viruses and bacteria spread like wildfire. Be careful.

I had swine flu for a week in July, was just like 'normal' flu virus which I've only had once. You can't get out of bed for about a week and feel like death but unless you have any underlying health problems there's no reason not to make a full recovery. If only strippers got sick pay......

Speaking of H1N1..The boys and I have it right now. BOO!!!!

Anyone got any tips on how to feel better? No one is dangerously ill, and the boys got Tamiflu, but I'm not high risk for complications so I no getty.

Arrgg!! I just feel god-awful, and they are perking up....which means I have to be up and around. I'm already taking Vit C and drinking some OJ (pre-diabetic, so I can't have much juice). I take a multi-vit and everything, but anything else?

Please, I'll take any tips at this point.

Poor you, I sympathise! All you can do really is take something like Nurofen to keep your temperature down and take the edge off your banging headache :-( Unfortunately its a case of toughing if out. Rubbish. I see you posted a couple of days ago- are you starting to feel a bit more human yet?

I feel better for a bit then worse again. I seem to have developed a bad cough now and it hurts to breathe and bonus I'm coughing up some blood. BOO!! Damn, I HATE being sick!

The boys are getting better though which is very good so maybe now I can stop worrying and start getting better.

Just tiny little dark pink dots when I cough into a tissue. There really isn't much at all. Just 3 or 4 minature little specks the size of the tip of a pencil lead or something.

I coughed till I gagged myself over and over again night before last so I figured it was from that. My lungs aren't filling up with fluid or anything so I assumed not dangerous...am I wrong?

Keep an eye on it. If it stays that way I wouldn't trip. If it significantly increases I'd get it looked at.

Being pre-diabetic I understand you can't do much juice (I tend to see juice as over-rated anyway), have you tried Emergen-C? It's good stuff. I would also load up on dark leafy greens. Blueberries are excellent as well. Invest in a humidifier too if need be.

Also signs to go to the Dr are very thick mucous, thats is dark yellow, brown or green and difficult to cough up.

    Thank you for the advice!

I haven't tried the Emergen-C but I have been using zicam I know it's for colds, but anyway, I figured it couldn't hurt. I'll pick up some Emergen-C, it's worth a try. I always eat tons of leafy greens. hehe I'm a vegetarian and always give my diet the credit for almost never getting sick. I usually recover pretty quickly too. Fingers crossed this time will be no different.

I finally got back into the habit of taking my vitamins again... which I'm sure helps.

Emergen-C is awesome. Though if you're not in the mood to drink vitamins, CVS has a "Stress Formula" vitamin that has similar ingredients (C, B vitamins, zinc, etc). I swear by regular zinc-- it helps with your immune system and is supposed to keep your skin clear and hair and nails strong, too.

I wrote this article a few months ago:

    Swine Flu and Strip Clubs

    • Keep yourself healthy.

    • Wash your hands often.

    • Be conscious of hand-to-mouth, and reverse contact, nose rubbing, coughing, sneezing, pecks on the cheek, etc.

    • Normal flu is actually riskier than swine flu.

    • If you're really sick seek medical attention.

    • If you get the flu at all STAY HOME! Even if you're not super sick. You might have swine flu and not know it. Someone else may not be able to handle the virus as well as you have or may pass it on to someone more vulnerable.

    • Trust your gut/instinct.

One of the most important things you can do is have an emergency kit like food and especially water that will last you at the longest two weeks.

You may never need it but having it can be a life saver. If anything just stock up on water.

Sign put up by management in the DR when swine flu first hit the media:

How to avoid the swine flu:

    1. Wash your hands often.
    2. Take a multivitamin and drink a lot of water.
    3. See number one.
    4. Stop getting wasted and making out in the dressing room.

Cracks me up every time I think of it.

I *just* started to get flu-like symptoms yesterday. What would be my best bet to help aid in not getting hit so hard? I'm thinking the emergen-c like some suggested? I've been taking those cold-eeze but like another poster said - these are for colds...sooo.....not really sure.

Any suggestions before it gets really bad?!
