Arrow Should i strip? How do you know if its right for you?

I'm super interested in being a dancer. I have a few friends who dance and love love love it.
So i always ask them how it is and what not. Im so curious about how it would be.

I just got a pole for my birthday in august so i can do some pole work and stuff like that, and i'm naturally talented in the ass shaking part. I just don't know if i could get my butt up on stage.

I also have a boyfriend who says he wouldnt mind it, but i know he would.
And i mother who says she will kick me out.
    What should i do? Ahhhh!

Doesn't really seem worth losing your place to live and possibly your boyfriend for something you aren't even sure you could do. What happens if it turns out you hate dancing, ya know?

you could always try an amateur night and see what you think. If you like it get your own place to live and go for it.

Yeah really. I mean what is it thats making you want to dance and risk all of this in the first place?

Your mom already has a problem with it so don't even think about doing it while you are still living at home. If you want to try it get a regular part time job so you have some steady money coming in, move out of your mom's house, and try dancing on the weekends.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

Yeah, do an amateur night. See what you think. And you don't have to start at a local club. I know girls who have an hour commute to get to my club. Find a club that's within driving distance, but far enough from your house that they'd be unlikely to find you if they suspected something. If you like amateur night, then start thinking about moving out and getting your own place.

Still living at home and you have a Boyfriend that probably won't approve? Sounds like trouble. Even if you can sneak it by your parents, the boyfriend could blow it for you b telling your parents everything.

If you are determined to start dancing anyway, I wrote a blog on the subject: http://thestripperu.com/?p=62

That's a pretty comprehensive list of what you need to do to get started.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

Paris' blog is an AWESOME place to start!

I don't make it a practice to tell anyone whether or not they should or should not enter exotic dancing as a profession. That is a very personal decision.

Do keep in mind that if you get hired at a place that issues 1099s and your parents still claim you as a dependent you could have MAJOR issues come tax time.

I would definitely read the Safety Tips for Newbies thread and really get an understanding of things you might not be thinking about, like the negative stuff.. Sorry to put it out there but you need to be aware if you are considering the job.

Why not avoid the lungs full of second-hand smoke, bags under your eyes from getting home at 4AM, knee pain and aggravation from fighting off grabby drunk strangers by just getting a makeover and picking up a couple new outfits? A different hairstyle and a new top can work wonders for your sexiness

Hmmm...now is not a great time to jump into the industry if you're mainly looking for attention. It could potentially be ego bruising (which wouldn't exactly make you feel sexy) to enter stripping and find that you're selling a tenth of the dances as compared to the more experienced (and perhaps even less attractive) strippers. Bruised knees and a few crumpled dollar bills at the end of the night don't generally make anyone feel sexy.

Then again, this could work for you. Maybe your happy-go-lucky attitude will attract more customers to you as you wouldn't reek of desperation.

Although...the boyfriend/mom situation kind of makes the latter point moot. I'd advise you wait to gain independence and then gradually move into stripping if you still feel that's a good option for you.

Honey, I have to be honest here. There's really nothing sexy about this job. I spend the night in 6 or 7 inch heels. My feet and back hurt, Im hot and sweaty. I have drunk guys pawing at me all night. I have to fight to be paid for my time bc half the time the guys dont want to tip, or if they do tip they think bc they tipped me (ie. did me a favor) I should be getting them off. I mean I can go on and on.

You know when I feel my sexiest? When I get home, wash the dirt and grime off my face and body, put my hair up and walk around in sweatpants.

This isn't like the movies. It's not glamorous.

^ Spoken like a true hustler.

However, some people do find the job glamorous. These are usually women who make much less money...but there are definitely people who enjoy the job and see it in a sexual light (i.e. exhibitionists, etc.) Perhaps the OP is one of those people.

You won't know until you amateur!

I don't find this job glamourous at all - and I am one of the top hustlers in my club and have been dancing for almost 7 years. I treat it as a JOB - there's nothing fun about it, but I do make good money.

If you are looking for attention or glamour, I guarantee that you won't be that great of a hustler, and who the hell wants to strip unless they are one of the top money making girls? It's not worth it otherwise.

Oh it has its moments. When Im on stage and the energy is high and the money is just insane, that's when I love my job. But by the time you've been doing it awhile I think those moments are few and far between. You're right. Some ppl do. I just don't want it to seem like this is something other than what it is.
