    Default Survived my first week!

    Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for a while, learning and gathering the balls to start my stripping career.

I finally went and applied at a club last Saturday night and I started the next evening. I ended up working three nights last week and I made close to 1300!

I am 29 years old and I really wish I had started dancing earlier. I realize that I may have lucked out so far, but making more in 3 days than I used to in 2 weeks is amazing!

I just want to thank everyone here for the great advice....these forums are lifesavers for us noobs!

So can we look forwards to 'survived my first month', 'survived my first year' and 'retired wealthy' posts?

    Phil.

Congrats on a great start to a new career!

Don't beat yourself up about not having started earlier, for one thing it will soon become apparent that the business is not all fun and games--it's really easy to get burned out. Most dancers I have seen starting off quit before they get much past a year, if that (though they tend to last longer than that down here because the clubs are so much cleaner). The ones that last still tend to drop out after 4-5 years. The veterans of ten years or more are pretty rare when compared to the overall numbers of dancers.

If you are 29 and you take good care of yourself and keep in good shape, you can last ten years or even more, if you decide to stick it out a while. Some dancers only need to go onstage to keep in shape, some need to supplement it with gym routines, but it's still well worth it if you can make well over a grand in three nights, for ten years.

DJs get burned out too, and after I figured that out the hard way (three burnouts lol), I now only work three nights a week by choice, making well over a grand a week too. I could have 4-5 nights but no thanks.

You actually might even be better off having starting right now, too--you have the maturity to last longer than a lot of younger dancers.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Djoser. I have a friend who danced for a few months, and I couldn't believe it when she quit and left all of that money behind. Now I see why. This job is TIRING!!! Last night I set a new personal earning record, but man can I feel it in my legs today.

3 nights a week is definitely my limit, but like you said, it's well worth it to make over 1000 a week only having to work 3 days. I just hope that I maintain this level of earning.

Now my next hurdle is breaking the news to my family.....I hate that we strippers have such negative stereotypes automatically associated with us, and I really hate lying to my mom!
