If your mother in law is dying in the hospital, it is truly a sorrow. But it does not entitle you to speed up. Because by speeding on streets and highway when it is not safe, you are endangering other people's life. Your sorrow does not entitle you to inflict sorrow on others.

If your speeding does not appear reckless, the cops will most likely let you off with a warning.

Well, Cyril, the entire Dallas Police Department would disagree with you. The police officer in question was suspended, and last I heard fired for his behavior.

    Here's the story: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...p.3e9c080.html

When will cops remember that their job is to protect and serve? Not harass people!

...your motherinlaw dying does entitle you to speed to the hospital because it has nothing to do with safety on a road. Speeding on a road when its safe isnt endangering people's lives (as evident by cops speeding in traffic).

I went out drinking by myself like a fool, and after 2 drinks felt tipsy, so I headed home, and got pulled over. Although I blew UNDER the legal limit, I was swaying and I guess I looked fucked up, because the cop arrested me! Who cares about my health, just another citizen to throw in jail! The RN at the jail immediately had me taken to the ER, I was drugged. The fact that you didn't blow could also be seen as a GOOD thing, now the state has no proof against you that you were drinking. For future reference, NEVER BLOW! I wish you lots of luck!

I swear to God Texas cops are on a serious power trip. Just recently, a guy was speeding with his wife in the car, they received a call from the hospital that his wife's mother was in the throes of death, and to come immediately. A cop followed them with his lights on until they pulled up to the hospital, and wouldn't let them go in, giving him a lecture about speeding. The poor guy was crying and pleading with the cop that his mother in law was dying, and the nurse even came out to talk to the cop. The cop then arrested the guy for "mouthing off", and at that moment, the Doctor came out to inform all of them that the wife's mother had passed on. Watching that on the news made my blood boil! Ugh, I fucking HATE cops!
In a way, it's a good thing this guy was famous. Brought more media attention than it would have otherwise... still too bad about his mother-in-law.

You can forge AA signatures. Not saying you should do this, but my friend went to a few AA meetings and they drove her nuts, so I just signed off on the rest of her sessions.

That's scary to hear about what happened to you. I used to work at your club, and used to do the exact same thing to get to the on-ramp. Oh, and I'm not sure where you live, but are you aware of the back way to go to and from the club, off of Bratton? PM me if you are interested.

Best of luck resolving the situation and also, let me know if you need an attorney recommendation.

She will most likely be sentenced to attend AA meetings anyway. Sound unconstitutional? It is. I think they made it illegal in California. Anyway, AA has different meeting formats. One format is called an "open meeting" and anyone and everyone is welcome to attend.

mediocrity, if you decide to go to AA, or have to go, look online for open meetings. Oh, and I can recommend meetings to you as well, although they are all going to be pretty lame.

Anyhow, on my way, I crossed the greatest state in the union. You guessed it right, the Texas. I do not know whether due to lack of funding or for some other reason, the condition of the highway was bad. So, the speed limit was only 70mph. At some point, due to the momentary lack of concentration, I went over the speed limit. I think I drove over 85mph. I was clocked by a Texan cop and pulled over. As I was pulling over, this thread came to my mind and it made me a bit apprehensive. But to my surprise, the cop was very nice to me and let me off with a warning. This was my first encounter with a Texan cop and it left me with a good first impression.
Why is Texas such a great state? I mean, its ok, but what's so special about it? And for the most part, cops here are ok. But, like cops, they are drunk on their authority, on edge, and ready to nail you for anything. Oh, the stories I have.....

Okay, okay, my final post in this thread tonight. When mediocrity describes "driving the wrong way down the street" at this club, its not exactly that. Really, its more of a lateral move to get onto the highway. So, instead of taking a right turn going onto the adjacent road, one looks left to make sure no one is coming, then crosses the road in a perpendicular manner to enter the on-ramp. But its not exactly perpendicular, there is a small angle "back", for lack of better terms. Its not exactly the wrong way down the street, and its not dangerous. I hope I've explained this well enough.

The cop was looking to bust someone coming out of the strip club, its that simple. They needed to make their quotas. And who better to fuck with than a cute stripper, rather than a big burly drunk male custy.

In New Jersey if one refuses to blow one gets the same penalty as if drunk. What one does not have to do is the sobriety test; of course they will impound the car and take one to the station to administer the breathalyzer test.

To the OP did or did they not administer a breathalyzer test. I can't imagine that they would not.

I'm helping a friend with a similar case...except she was responding to an accident as an EMT with a local force (off duty), the cop said "get out of my Fing way b***" shoved her to the ground

also shoved her friend to the ground (the accident victim's wife) and beat up/arrested my friend's husband.

That's horrible and that cop should be charged with assault. I don't see how its in any way shape or form similar to this though.
