Mind Blowing Do you/have you used props on the stage?

I was just thinking about the possibility of incorporating some sexy hats into my costumes... like a fedora or a top hat.. something classy/sexy.

I have not seen this done anywhere near me so I was hoping I could be original and stand out in a good way.

My question is... what sort of 'tricks' to do with the hat? Like tossing it, catching it, etc.

I need some creative, sexy, beginner level ideas.

    Thanks!!!

i've never seen anyone come on stage with props, but maybe i'm working with underachievers...i have on occasion plucked hats from guys by the stage and messed around with them. If you do it i don't think the tossing/catching thing sounds too good--this isn't a Broadway production. Maybe wear one pulled down low, so you can peek sexily from beneath it at everyone.

I've seen a few girls with top hats/cowboy hats... they mostly either take them off somewhere near the beginning.

I've seen a few girls play with them and toss them around... but they've all looked like COMPLETE dicks. So... no helpful advice.

Never underestimate the power of a small prop used during your stage set. Use the hat to conceal your chest while removing your top (this is a old burlesque move), use it to hide long hair and flip the hair out from under the hat during your set, pass it around as a tip getter (hence the phrase "passing the hat").

Just using some of these small gestures will liven up the room. Combine the music to make it relevant to the costume style. Sharp Dressed Man or Putting on the Ritz for a top hat, Billie Jean or Smooth Criminal for a fedora. Country music for, what else? A cowboy hat.

This is the time of year to put together some really stand out style stage shows because there are plenty of sexy Halloween costumes available every where. Step out of your comfort zone, feel the adrenalin rush and watch the cash flow into your bank account. The customers know when you are having fun and when you are just going through the motions. Customers want dances from fun girls, so show them how much fun you really are!

I do this ALL the time. I have a cute little 20's gangster style hat I use and I twirl my hair up in a french twist underneath and I have the old style thigh highs with the line up the back and a garter belt. Guys and girls seem to love it!

I've seen a girl twirling a parasol, kind of hiding behind it, it was cute! Also, there was a girl in Vegas that would dress as a french maid and carry around a little feather duster. She would come up behind guys and dust them, the guys loved it!

You can say that again.. not just on here but men in general. Guys are so damn lame, the only way they can halfway make up for it is by opening their wallets.

I am a TOTAL prop girl. Love them. I make literally 2-3x in a costume than in a normal outfit.

Plus it's something to use when you get bored onstage..lol.

I've done the fedora gangster thing, bondage/whip/handcuff thing (great for handcuffing custies!!), burlesque fans, Schoolgirl, Librarian/Teacher (ran around with a ruler) Maid with a feather duster, lord it goes on.

    ^^^Those are some awesome ideas!

My only concern is that all the girls at my club don't do that sort of thing- they stick to the normal bikini like matching sets, and mini dresses, and matching thong sets, etc.

So I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb and look like a total weirdo for being the only girl out there in like a plaid miniskirt with like a whip and handcuffs.

^^^ You wouldnt stand out for long. I tried this in an all bikini club like you described and it took about two weeks for all the other girls to do the same. They saw the money increase I was getting and they all wanted in. When they started with the costumes I had to change it up again.

Anything that gives you attention is good. The fact that no one does it is precisely why you should. Stick out! Grab the spotlight! Be exotic! That's the whole point. That's what we do. We entertain, and doing a stage show no one else does is entertaining and translates into $$$.

Like everyone else has said, sticking out is very good for advertising yourself in the club. Just make sure when you do a routine with props or something special, you GO ALL THE WAY. I've seen a few girls who have tried to do the hat thing, and they chicken out/half-ass it and look really silly. Be confident with your stage ideas, and if you decide to use them, really put them out there. (At least that's my 2 cents)

I do the hat thing.. I love wearing my cowboy hat when i'm on stage, they seem to go crazy when you get on the pole with the arch of your back and that smile. I know a girl that bring a belt to the stage and wears it across her breasts.
