Question How do you repair your hair?

    Hey everyone!

I've had an eating disorder for 10 years and have been primarily bulimic for the last 5 (I'm in recovery now! 7 months purge-free, woohoo!), and over the years, my bad habits have caused me costly dental problems, massive hair loss, low iron levels, as well as many other health issues.

Right now, I'm trying to work on getting my teeth fixed (so expensive!) so that I can take better care of myself. But I'm primarily concerned with my hair at the moment. I used to have thick, naturally curly, beautiful hair, and now my hair is so thin and brittle, it breaks and splits no matter what I do. Ponytails make chunks of it fall out. Certain conditioners make it dry and break off at the ends.

My question is: how do you repair your hair?

If I could just get it back to the state it was once in, I know I could take better care of it. I don't ever use shampoo anymore, just conditioner. I don't straighten it like I used to anymore. I use hardly any product on it. But none of this seems to help.

So if you could help me out by giving me a few "repair your hair" tips, that would be so greatly appreciated. Not only does having bad hair effect how I look, but it also effects my self-esteem. I just miss having gorgeous locks :-(

    Thanks!
    -Alisha-

Take Biotin. It helps tremendously! Also, use a protein conditioner at least once a week, no more than 2 or 3 times.

You can say that again.. not just on here but men in general. Guys are so damn lame, the only way they can halfway make up for it is by opening their wallets.

Pantothenic acid is supposed to aid in the growth of hair and nails... But don't take too much of it (it can dry your skin when taken in large doses, which could negatively affect your hair).

Disregard this if you are vegan, but try eggs! Not only does eating them make your hair stronger and healthier, using raw eggs as conditioner has been shown to greatly improve even severely damaged hair. I know it sounds gross at first, but it works! And it's totally inexpensive since you probably have eggs anyway.

Google search "eggs and hair" for a ton of results on what exactly it does for your hair and how to make egg conditioner.

Glad to hear you are using the conditioner-only method! I LOVE It and it has done so much good for my hair. However, you must make sure the condish you are using is SILICONE FREE! Believe it or not, v05 and suave naturals conditioners are the only store brought brands that do not contain silicones.

Try an apple cider vinegar rinse! It closes the hair cuticle, and makes your hair so shiny and soft, and no it will not SMELL! Fill ur sink up with water and add a CUP of apple cider vinegar
Let your hair soak in it for a min and massage it in like shampoo. Condition after and your hair's cuticle will be closed and feel fabulous!
