Arrow New Format DJs and Dancers PLEASE HELP!

The club that I just recently returned to has a new music format that they only play all types of rock and house techno versions of pop and hip hop songs.

No regular hip-hop (Please hold your appalause hip hop haters, lol.) No reggeaton, no old skool hip hop, not even a regular pop song, has to be mixed into trance or house or no sell.

The problem is I do not have a strong stomach for techno/house music so Im not interested in dancing to those versions of hip hop songs. The other problem with this is it is clear that our minority clientle felt very alienated...walk out after walk out after walk out.

What I am looking for is really great rock covers of hip hop songs like Framing Hanleys' version of "Lollipop" and the rock version of "Pony" that I was introduced to last night.

Im also looking for great rock hip hop combinations that I could use like Lil Waynes "Stunting Like My Daddy"(not sure who it was done with.) My manager is very against the Jay-Z/Linkin Park remixes (not that I can fault him for that) so those suggestions can be exempt.

Im going back in tonight so any help will be greatly apprieciated. Thanks everyone.

It's old, but RunDMC/Aerosmith 'Walk This Way'

That theme from Godzilla has Jimmy Page or one of those guys from Led Zeppelin and a rapper. I forget the name (just woke up lol) but if you look up the soundtrack it'll say.

Limp Biskit 'Rollin' remix is fucking hot and has a bit of a rap sound mixed in, but they say 'Play that fuckin' track!' in the beginning, I would advise cueing it in a bit.

I will think more on this, there is actually a lot of stuff that will work.

Try also Lil' Kim 'Whoa' (true visionary mix) it's sort of techno but sexy as all hell. She does sing 'my niggas' but you can't really hear it unless you are paying attention.

Also I know you said you don't like techno but the older breakbeat stuff you might like, it's nothing like the girly frou-frou sound of house or trance. It's actually closer to the old funk pioneered by George Clinton (without whom these rappers would be lost) than modern rap is.

Like try 'Pepper Spray' DJ Baby Anne

If you like that come back and tell me I have a ton of that stuff.

Here are a few of the songs that I use
Dem Franchize Boyz & Korn - Coming Undone wit it
Nelly & Justin Timberlake song - Work it (ACDC remix)
New Found Glory - Back That Ass Up
    Kord - Word Up
Mims - This is why I Rock.

Have you ever heard of Scratch N Sniff? THey have a national syndicated radio show which plays rock/hip hop remixes. www.snsmix.com

Like Djoser, there are a bunch of techno remixes. I mostly use those. I found that it meets management's requirement of not playing hip hop, and it meets the girl's requirement of playing hip hop.

Hey Rich thanks, those songs sound pretty good! I've played a couple and love them but the others are new to me.

Another really good cover is the rock verion of Got Money by Lil Wayne & T-Pain. The cover is done by Korn's Jonathan Davis. It's not on an album, if u do a search for it, you'll find it as a free download.

He discusses the song in the last part of the interview.

Djoser-I havent gotten a chance to lister to the DJ Babyanne song, I will though. Thank you!

Big Rich-Thanks your suggestions were actually songs that I searched out and found that night but I had forgotten about Korn's Word Up. Im going to try and find the J.D. version of Got Money. I have a lt of respect for his work.

About the techno the reson for my objection to the techno hip hop mixes is the selection at our club isnt hip hop, iy ist even watered down hip hop. We are offered stuff like Black Eye Peas, Lady Gaga, Sean Kingston, and the Pussycat Dolls. Pop music.

Thankfully after speaking with the manager and explaining to him the new music format was making the black entertainers and customers feel unwelcome, he decided to okay some hip hop and reggaeton. It made a huge difference in the night for everyone and unlike we are always lead to believe our older clientle did not run screaming in horror from the club. They were just as excited if not moreso that all of the entertainers seems more energetic.

Here Are The Songs That I Found To Handle The New Format Situation:
    -Alient Ant Farm-Smooth Criminal
    -Pierce The Veil-Beat It
    -Calvary Kids-Milkshake
    -Just Surrender-Sexyback
-Stuntin Like My Daddy-Lil Wayne/Birdman(Travis Barker Remix)
-Bombs over Bagdad-Outkast & Rage Against The Machine
    -Get Back-Ludacris And Sum 41
-Brickhouse 2003-Rob Zombie, Lionel Richie, Trina
