    Default question about half wigs

this girl at the club showed me the fake pony tails and i've been wearing them for a bit and wanted to switch it up. i saw a girl with a half wig and it looked really nice and natural ( i also saw another girl with one and it didn't look so natural ).

my problem is that i don't know what to do with the front part of my hair. i have nice hair and it's medium length but it takes an 45 mins- 1 hour to do and i'm always running late plus it never lasts the whole night so i want to wear a half wig (whole wigs sometimes look fake on me and i always mess up the bangs). i'm half black and my hair is kinda frizzy so am i going to have to style the front part of my hair as if i was styling the whole head? i saw this video on youtube.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZxSCvoG0Dk

that seems a lil complicated to me but it seems like it still would save time. does anyone know what kind of curlers those are?

also, does synthetic look really really fake? that's what my pony tails are and i like how they look in the club but when i wore it after work one time to get Chinese food a girl told me i was lucky she didn't have a lighter cuz if she did she would flick my hair. i guess that means it looks really fake? just wondering cuz i like how it looks so much in the club but i dont know if i would ever wear a wig outside the club. like that girl kim on RHOA i think in some scenes you can tell she has a wig.

Last question. How long should I keep them for? The girl that told me about the pony tail said she doesn't wear hers more than 3 times before throwing them out. they're only like $17 each.

Here are the two i like. the first is real hair but kinda expensive.

sorry about such a long post but i had a lot of questions and no one to ask really

If you are only wearing them in the club, wear em forever til they fall apart. Outside the club is a different story. I don't know what your hair looks like, but the cool thing about half wigs is that you can just pull the front of your hair up and clip it over the hairline of the wig. It will camoflauge the wig and you don't have to do your hair. You could even do that thing where the girls tease up the front a bit before clipping it back. Kinda like a pompadour. I don't know what the name of that hair style is, but I have seen everyone do it, pink, fergie, etc.

I think an option to consider would be "Hairdo" by Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves.
P.S. try eBay they only cost about $50 (they're about half the price than buying from the official site). And when you think about it... $50 for 6 months of amazing hair that you don't even have to style yourself.. WOO HOO!

I had one Hairdo piece before and they're absolutely wonderful. They last up anywhere from 6-12 months (depending on how well you care for them and if they're real or synthetic hair) with constant everyday wear.

They're clip in BUT very sturdy and VERY realistic looking.

You can get them pin straight, curly, wavy, pony tail, chignon, etc!!! So much variety and every color under the sun. I would recommend them to anyone considering wigs or hair extensions!!!

    Hope this helps.

^^^ The Jessica Simpson Hairdo is VERY real looking. It is also really high quality hair. I'm not sure though if your hair texture would match it, it is very caucasian looking. Those two you posted are beautiful! I used to wear a human hair half wig, and NOBODY could tell! I actually wore the same brand you are looking at, but the Janet style. Mine lasted about 4-6 weeks, depending on how much I wore it and how well I took care of it. I always kept it stored in the original skinny plastic bag, and was careful styling it, ESPECIALLY with HEAT!

thanks for all the responses! i just went to a beauty supply shop and got a Beshe half wig for $20 just to try and play with. my boyfriend knows about the other fake hair i wear so when i told him i was going to try it on and then came out with it on he said "i thought you were going to put on a wig" lol. I'm so excited to try it at work! i think it will give me more confidence because even if i get a blow out with my real hair before work i'm always worried it will frizz and sometimes it does. but this is great now!

they didnt carry the jessica simpson ones but i googled them and they look cute. i just can't picture me wearing it tho because all the pics i saw were of jessica simpson wearing them. maybe if they had pics with someone with dark hair wearing them.

If you don't want to leave any of your own hair out you can also try an inexpensive lace front wig.

They sell them at the following:

    www.clairhair.com

    www.hairsisters.com

I saw these but I wasn't really sure how they work. I heard from a few girls (not dancers or girls that actually wear these) that you have to go to a professional to put it on and then you keep it on for weeks. Is this true or not? They had way more of a selection in the lace front wig section but I wouldn't want it if it's all that hassle and I have to wear it at home.

The lace front wigs your friends are talking about are the custom made ones. These require tape, glue, and other BS. Look at the sites that I mentioned. They have instructions and videos that explain the process.

You basically cornrow your hair underneath and place the wig on top. Then you secure the wig with pins on the sides. It's really simply and looks hot as hell!!!!

I wear these without even cornrowing my hair underneath. I simply slick my hair back and put it in a bun. Then I place a wig cap over my head. Then I put the lace front wig on top. It looks hot as hell!!! Everyone is always saying how pretty my hair is and stuff. For real from start to finish it takes me 5 minutes to do my hair. I love it! I used to waste money on sew-in weaves. I did this crap for 10 years and probably could have bought myself a second home with all the money I spent lol. I discovered the lace front wigs two years ago and my life has never been the same.

I'm mixed too and I have the same hair situation. Pesonally I love full lace wigs. Similar to what Beyonce wears. In 5 minutes its instant glamour. The only thing is it could get pricey ($200-$5000+) but it looks so natural. But the half wigs work just as well, the ones you suggested look beautiful. So what to do with the front half of your hair? I suggest you either wet set with rollers (The ones in the vidio were perm 3/4 in perm rods) or use a curling iron if you're out of time. Then blend your hair with the wig with your fingers. It should look flawless if the wig is the same color as your hair. Hope this helps.

Listen to Dash 33! This is exactly what I do when I wear a half wig. Most of the time I'll do a lace front because I don't even want to mess with the front. It takes a little more time than I would like. But listen Dash 33! She is right on the money! That is how you rock a half wig!

I'm Caucasian and I just bought my first wig about a week ago. I went to a mostly ethnic hair store and they hooked me up. I was terrified, but everyone was really sweet and trained me in what I need to do. Now I'm going to have to look into a half wig.
