    Default is it worth it?

I just got home from work and am feeling so super tired and my knees hurt like crazy. I worked for a full 7 hours or maybe more and walked out with 800 or so but I was doing dance by dance. the money is great but whoa It's so tiresome, there must be an easier way to make money. sometime I wonder if all this is worth it, I just feeling kind of burnt out. anyone know of any or have similiar experience? or know of a way to decrease stress and relieve pain on the knees? I'd love to hear from you.

For me it's worth it. It allows me to do what I need to do the rest of the time. This job isn't for everyone though.

^^^ Exactly. if you're making that kind of money, the flip side is that you should be able to take plenty of time off to recover if you need to!

Are you still new to the business, don't worry so much about it. The first 4 months were really painful for me, but it gets a LOT better.

Exercise, eat healthy, drinks lots of water and take glucosamine for your knees. The workout you get at work although much better than sitting at a desk is not enough to maintain your energy levels (or at least thats what I find). Being super fit makes the physical side of dancing a breeze. Shorter shoes or shoes you can take off during a lap dance also help.

Now for the mental exhaustion. That's the worst! That one I haven't quite figured out just yet. Right now I want to punch pretty much every customer in the face! LOL Good thing I'm good at pretending.

It takes a special kind of woman to strip long-term. Its not a job for everybody. People hear about the money and get starry-eyed and yeah, customers literally hand you money but that doesn't mean its not work.

Try to keep a very consistent schedule with the same days off. That will help get you accustomed. But if you're experiencing depression or anxiety over it, than give yourself some time to clear your head.

I rub muscle-soothing cream on my legs and arms in the morning and at night, and it seems to help my recovery.

Try to think happy thoughts about the job too. Thinking about how proud I am of myself, how I've accomplished something few people can, how I went out into the world and tried something I wanted to try despite what others say - things like that pep me up for work. And remember, all those things are true for you too! Good job, you should be proud of yourself!

if i could make 800 in 7hrs, i wouldnt care if i could barely walk at the end. not a whole hell of a lot of jobs where you can pull in that money without even a college degree if you want.

For the knees, you could try thigh high stockings or fishnets, knee socks, or even leg warmers, they provide a barrier for floor work as well as some cushioning. Also, arnica gel for your joints will noticeably help.

if that was a norm of stripper-earning, that would be one thing. it's not.

also, consultants and government employees of many kinds, along with certain kinds of small business/sole prop work can make that in a day as a norm, and they can keep doing the job for 30 years if they want to. also, a lot of bartenders can pull that, even in small bars, again for decades.

stripping is worth it if you like being naked/topless and receiving money for that fact without being obligated to have sex (as with porn or escorting). but given the career duration, it is not comparable to justjobs.

thanks for the responses, they are super helpful and motivating! I couldn't walk upstairs earlier today, it was bad. I was like an 80 year old woman, lol. the lower part of my thighs just above the knees hurts the most. it's really painful when swatting down to get things. I find that massaging the area vigorously and doing swats dispite the pain helps speed up the healing process. I just barely started dancing and haven't really set any goals in life. It makes me feel sad and I hope that I get things sorted out soon.

don't rush yourself girl. i'm not saying be a bum and put of plans and savings forever, but its taken me a long ass time to get my ass together but i'm not gonna be upset about not doing it in the past. let's just work on the future. and you've got tons of future girl
just thing about literally how many billions of people would like to make $800 in a day, or even a week. its pretty unbelievable when we get realistic.
i know you're sore now, but like any job, you'll get used to it. and if it were super easy every hot bitch in the country would be doing it. but instead they take pole classes and think they're some type of stripper, while we actually make money from it. lol.

You made 800 dollars an got a good workout. Congratulations, you have just saved 50$ because you don't need a gym membership .

So yes, I think it's worth it.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I haven't even started stripping yet... and yes, this job looks like it's TOTALLY worth it!!!

As far as I can tell.. I only see lots of positives... there's the potential for AMAZING money you get to take home that night, you're ogled by (some genuinely nice) guys all night, you get your drinks paid for sometimes (by customers), you (basically) control how much you earn by your own sales/closing technique, you get to dress up and look hot (and getting paid for it) while getting one hell of a work out!

I'm so excited to do this job and I think it will totally be worth it. It gives you money which gives you the power to pay your bills, save up, and do something else.

If you're new then it may take a few weeks to get use to the stress dancing puts on your body. Overtime, you won't feel all those bumps and hurts on your knees.

If you don't want to work 7 hours have you ever considered only going in when the peak money making hours are? Or are you working for that entire 7 hours without downtime?

I remember when I used to make that much. /sigh.
Then I moved to Los Angeles.

When I first started and I was making that much... it was too exhausting for me to work more than 2-3 days a week AT MOST.
After a few months... I could work 5 nights a week and be making that and have NO PROBLEMS.

I have 2 college degrees and never made that much! At this point, I wouldn't care if I had to have the valet guys carry me and physically put me in my car for that much in 7 hrs !

Hmmm, I haven't really thought about taking breaks during my 7 hour shift. I just try to sell as many dances as possible. I just started dancing so I haven't got much experience per se. I chit chat longer when I feel tired of jumping around and getting a lot of no's. I avoid the dressing room at all cost because I don't want to make a habit of it. Since I'm sure it'll be so much more comfortable there.....

Sorry desuvsdeath the money that night was good but I had to take 3 days off! lol, so it's the same if you work 3 days, making 250ish. It's probably less stress and more attainable. I've actually been toying around with that idea.

youre getting paid 800 bucks to work out for 7 hours and youre complaining about it?? most women would love a job that leaves them tired at the end of the day instead of having to sit in an office getting fat.

So its not your knees. its sore muscles? that will go away once your body is used to using those muscles. my thighs and legs never get sore anymore

Um I think it's worth it plus I'm a fairly active and in good shape person. I've a friend who got tired after one Saturday night of working and had to take the next night off and she does this often, what I tell her is to go work out more and get in shape cuz that will increase stamina. After a while of doing this job you get used to the physical nature of the job and it becomes less tiring/tedious. Better than sitting for 8 hours in front of a computer in a cubicle. You're getting a great work out and getting your body in fab shape and increasing your stamina, and getting paid for it too.

You don't sound like a lazy person so I really don't understand why you would question whether 800 bucks in 7 hours is worth it.

leg warmers, thick thigh-highs, stay off your knees? How long have you danced? After awhile, your knees should toughen up. It should get better. Taking Motrin before bed after work and again in the morning and before work helps me a lot.

Mabe this is just me, but if you keep taking the time off after the workout your muscles will never fully get it. Yes it's going to hurt, you have to get over it if you want to do this. The more often you work at first, the sooner you will get used to the taxing demands that this job has for your body.
Keep moving on your days off, hikes, yoga, nothing to aerobics(you get that at work now) but something eanouph to wear your muscles don't lock up. Its comparable to riding a bike with a rusty chain, you have to keep greesing the chain till the rust wears off.
Good luck, and if I was on fire that much, I'd live at work and bank as much as possible till the next thing comes to town.

If I was making anywhere close to what you just did, I'd still be dancing. I wasn't making that much, so it didn't feel "worth it " with my boyfriend freaking out and lying to my family about what I was up to ( both were very stressful ) . You'll have to keep track of what you make each night and judge based on what else you could be doing. You'll also just need to keep track of your own self control ( going to work consistenly, are able to do it without partying too much yourself ) .
