    Tired spinning pole nausea

    ok.. yet another pole question...

So I've always danced on a static pole (stationary) and now that I've got my awesome titanium x pole, I tried the taking the pins out and spinning.

When I was in New Orleans I did tricks on the spinning pole, not much, but I had the same problem.

I am like -super- nauseous right now. has anyone else had that problem and if so did it just take time to go away? any advice?

maybe you're spinning too fast? i love the spinning pole, you have to do much less work. there was one time i was upside down on the pole and a girl at work came on stage and started spinning me like a kid on a tire swing. when i finally could get down i seriously couldn't walk straight at all. so don't do that.
but you'll prob get used to it. just don't spin quickly in the beginning, the more your body is away from the pole the slower you go. good luck!

Ginger will help with the nausea. Candied ginger, ginger beer, pretty much anything with a good amount of ginger in it.

I have really really bad motion sickness. Nausea and extreme dizziness that has gotten worse as I've gotten older.

You can build up a tolerance by doing it more often...but in my case, as soon as I stopped practicing it regularly, I lost that tolerance very quickly.

Ginger helps with nausea but not with dizziness. If dizziness is also a problem try the motion sickness drugs at the health food store. I used Hylands motion sickness pills which do not cause drowsiness and they helped a lot.

There is also a protect you can purchase but in the US I dont think it's approved by the FDA or something so I had to order it from another country. It's called Vertigo Heel...it works extremely well.

I also found and tried a training DVD that is suppose to help you build resistance to motion sickness called the PUMA method. Unfortunately I wasn't patient enough to stick with it every day like I was suppose to so I can't say if it works but it had good reviews.

I just practiced regularly prior to an event where I was going to use the spinning pole and eventually it barely bothered me with the help of the OTC meds.

I've also found on rare occasion that I can dance on a spinning pole if my adrenaline is up like when I'm out and having a really great time, it doesn't affect me as much.
