    Smiley Time Travel!!!

I love history, so this is a fun question I love to ask people.

If you could take a decade of your life to spend living in any time period, what would you choose?

I'd go back to 1967-77. I'd love to experience the counter culture, the British glam rock days, and just the 70's in general.

    You?

^^^^ I agree with you. I was a flower child in a past life, I would kill to experience San Francisco during the sixties, and Woodstock.

You can say that again.. not just on here but men in general. Guys are so damn lame, the only way they can halfway make up for it is by opening their wallets.

The 'Harlem Renaissance', 1920s Harlem looked like fun (and otherwise interesting) times!
I love the way everyone dressed to the nines and it just seemed to be one big party.

I was only able to enjoy part of that period as a teenager but yes, those were good years with a lot of interesting social changes taking place. I can't really think of anything I want to see, but I've enjoyed the 70s, 80s and 90s. The Bush / post-9/11 era, not so much

Seeing as how I'm posting this on 'Columbus Day' ...

I'd set my time machine to Fort Mountain, Georgia in the year 1170

Experienced it, thanks - very over-rated. (I was 20 in 1977 and living in Brighton on the south coat of the UK).

I'd be intrigued to go back to 1795 - 1805.

I've long been interested in naval history and would be interested in meeting the great admirals of the period (it was the golden age of the Royal Navy).

It would have been possible to meet admirals such as Hood, Howe, Duncan, St Vincent, De Samaurez, Collingwood and of course the incomparable Nelson.

Not to mention men such as Edward Riou, Henry Blackwood and Edward Pellew; some of the greatest seamen who ever lived - no one alive could now match their knowledge of wind, current and tide.

On the other side there was Napoleon and his marshals; men like Augereau, Davout, Ney and Murat.

I'll end with a quote from Napoleon about one of his other marshals; Lannes:

"...his courage in the first place carried him further than his spirit, but each day his spirit rose to the occasion and restored the balance. He had truly become a superior being by the time he perished. I found him a pygmy, but I lost a giant..."

Do I get to take anything with me, and if so, what? That would influence my decision tremendously, lol.

Maybe America circa the 20's - just to hang with Ford, Tesla, and Edison. Meet a lot of others like them, too.

Or the late 1600's, if I could hang with Newton and his crowd.

I'd actually go to the future. As far into the future as I could. Since it's something I'll never experience or even know about otherwise. At least with the past, I can read and learn about it. I want to know the complete unknown. And maybe get some stock tips too...lol

    I am torn between 1776 and 1787.

To see the Delegates debate the Declaration of Independence or the rowdy back and forth of the U.S. Constitution.

Or to be standing in Mission Control as Eagle One decends to the Lunar surface JUly 20, 1969.

Hmm,many different times, but probably Peter the Great times, when he built St Petersburg. In the US,probably 60s and 70s.Also,maybe the time of the caveman, just curious of what he really looked like. And probably about a hundred years into the future.

And then come back to the present!

I love history! There's a lot of time periods I'm interested in...especially life in the late 1700s, but if I had to pick one decade to travel to and live through it'd be the 1920s. I love this era! I wish ime travel did exist but since it doesn't I'll just have to settle on being a flapper for Halloween I'm having a lot of fun trying hairstyles and makeup with my costume.
