I know the idea of discount dances is being addressed in another thread.. but I need some serious help in how to address this specific problem!
A few months ago my club enacted $10 dances sunday through thursday and only on dayshift fri and sat. Meaning that we only have $20 dance nights on friday and saturday. Our club also has no champagne rooms to upsell.
Up until this point I have been rather successful at charging $20 for my dances on weeknights. But it is becoming increasingly difficult when all the other dancers are content with grinding their ass away for $10 per song. (Naturally if a guy requests only $10 dances I make a point of giving a very low contact dance). Management also fires us if we are caught "over-charging".
Management still charges us $50 house fee before 9:30 pm, and we are still required to pay a MINIMUM of $20 to the DJ and $5 to 4 bouncers on staff. Our house fee and tipouts remain unchanged yet the price per dance has been cut in half. Thus, our nightly income has been cut in half or we need to work twice as hard to make the amount we would if dances were at normal price.
I'd like some new ways to proposition $20 dances on these nights without offending the customer or getting into trouble with management. It pisses me off that guys act like you're over-charging them by asking for the normal price of a dance. Wtf?
Anybody else ever been in this situation? How did you handle it and still manage to make money as a clean dancer?
