    Default Polework and breathing

So i've been diligently practicing pole tricks for about 5 or 6 months now and no matter how hard i try I can't seem to breathe when doing a trick. I automatically hold my breath so then halfway thru my routine i'm gasping for air and completely winded. I guess i'm just concentrating so hard on performing the trick that i forget or something i dont know. Does anyone else experience this and do u know how i can stop doing it?

I find myself doing it too. What I tell my students is to inhale when you are not straining and exhale through the strain. If you are holding a position, take a long easy inhale that wont expand your abdominal too much because it could make you loose grip or change your position. Then exhale & inhale as you transition.

For example, to invert: long inhale while standing on floor and ONLY once your abdominal can't stretch further then exhale as you lift to invert. THEN hold the (inverted angle) position as you slowly inhale before you transition while exhaling.

It sounds like it takes concentration but your body should naturally do this with some practice.
