Sad Are 4" heels too short?

Okay, the time is drawing near for me to enter the club and make a name for myself, so can you guys answer honestly:

If you saw a new girl come in with 4" stripper heels, what would you think/say?

I can walk fine in 5", but dancing is another story. I'm working on it, but I don't think I could be comfortable in 6"ers by the time I start work.

as long as they're bona fide stripper heels and not just regular pumps, I'd think it was fine. just a sign of a newb. no big deal.

I have knee problems and have moved down to 6-7's b/c I can hardly make it through a night in the tall ones.. I hate wearing the shorter heels but what can I do.
Some of the older dancers (40's) at my club where short heels like what your speaking of. They make great money and I don't think it affects things much. It's all about your confidence and skills... Guys always comment on the shoes anyway, saying how the don't get the need for the super tall heels and I think many of them don't really care either way..

They look like they'd be sort of hard to match and limit your outfit options if those are your only shoes.
For my taste, they're a bit "normal" looking for a sc... but everyone's entitled to thier own opinion. For every day wear, though... Those would be SO hot!

Some customers like short shoes, some customers like tall shoes, and some customers don't give a damn what kind of shoes you wear. So go for whatever makes you feel sexy.

Hm, good point. The reason I like them is because they're closed-toed and silver/whitish which goes with a silver outfit I picked up. But they are a bit normal, aren't they? Bummer.

I would have to say that as long as the shoes you pick meet the hiring standard of the club don't worry about it. Customers do love the newbies quite a bit so don't worry about your income level as far as shoes go. The most important thing for the first couple of weeks that you dance is that you are comfortable. You are most likely to be in alot of pain the first week no matter how short your shoes are. If the club allows it, go for the lowest heel possible and then after time work your way higher. Good Luck!

I did an informal study on this. The consensus is that 95% of them don't care how high your heels are. They aren't looking at your shoes.

The height isn't the primary issue. The point of the high heels is to tighten your abs and force you to "suck it in." Don't get shoes that are flat enough to let your belly soften up. If you are going with low heels DO NOT get platforms. Platforms really only serve to level out the angle your feet rest at, so say you have 6" heels you'd want a small platform or else your feet will be almost tip-toed.

If you have a Burlington Coat Factory nearby definitly go there. They usually have a bunch of high heels around 4-6", some with slight platforms, and they are usually pretty good quality. If you can get shoes with the hard rubber heels, those are very durable and also slip-resistant.

You should definitely wear what you're most comfortable in.Lots of girls start with shorter ones, then move to higher ones.It also depends on the club, what kind of dancing you're doing.

Just want to say that at least for me,it was much more painful for feet to dance in shorter heels.Especially ones wothout a platform. For me the least painful ones ar actually 6.5-7 inch, where the platform is 2.5-3 inches. Also, the shoe is heavier, gives you more balance and a better workout for the leg, lifting it up.In some places, like NYC gown clubs though, platforms are frowned upon (at least used to).I remember wearing no platforms in NYC and having awful pain. So,high heels are IMO not just made for just the high heel or how some guys think "to look taller",it's just a better less painful option,a more "prfosessional" option,a part of the "uniform".

There's another option as well. You can get a higher heel, but with a chunky platform. Then, after some time, you can experiment more and see what kind of other shoes you can wear.

Shoes are the most important part of the costume, because you stand on your feet.

I think a little bit of a higher heel with a platform to it would be sexier.

I wear heels that are too high though - 7.5 inches. Looks good on me tho cuz I'm petite.

It depends on your height and weight. If you are already on the taller side 5'5" or over and pretty thin, then I don't see any problem with wearing shorter heels. Heels also lengthen your legs, flatten your belly, and make your butt look better. Its not just for height, but if you or on the shorter side and/or the thicker side then I would get some higher heels. You don't work your legs to look like tree trunks or your gut to stick out.

I -am- a bit on the shorter side, sadly. Thankfully where I'm going to be working they will literally take anyone, so at least if my legs look short and stumpy it won't be too much of a biggie. And the tummy's never been a problem (knock on wood). I instinctively engage my stomach muscles when I'm nervous (or nekkid!), so that helps.

    In other news...

After DAYS of window shopping online, I've decided on these:

They go with my second outfit perfectly. I never thought I'd say this, but I am so happy to be done with shoe shopping.

Don't look at being short as a bad thing. Everyone has their tastes. A lot of my customers like me because I'm "fun sized." As long as you look proportioned you'll be fine. If you have shorter legs than average, definitely get higher platforms. Otherwise don't sweat it.

I've had a few guys ask me if I'd put on lower shoes to dance for them because they like shorter girls in super short heels... So mebbe it'll work out.
My old roommate had those shoes... said they were very comfortable.

I started off in 6" bell heels (Ellie's - "March"). I never had any problems, and I definitely dance! You might look for something that has a broader heel.

What size heels were you wearing before?! 7in is the highest I've ever worn. Are those considered short now?

Hey I just figured I'd add a link even though I LOVE the bunny shoes Juno. They're so cute! This place serves Delilah's is Philly which has a runway that can be treacherous in platforms lol. I got hooked on the Candy Store's clothes and shoes while I was was there. If any one else is interested in lower shoes this might be helpful: http://www.candystore4you.com/catalog/c1_p1.html
