Default Ok... question regarding weight loss

Let me preface this by saying... yes, I know that what I'm asking is not safe, nor long lasting...

I need to drop 20lbs.... fast. Like, within 3 weeks if possible. I need any and all recommendations to make this happen. Normally I wouldn't try to drop this kind of weight so quickly, but I really need a jumpstart as life has thrown me a total curveball that I need to frickin hit out of the park

Hit the gym HARD. Lift to failure, like lift the heaviest weight that you can comfortably lift until you cannot do anymore. It should be hard, like having a baby hard. It will tone you up and even if you only lose 10lbs it'll look like 20, plus it burns crazy amounts of cals and the muscle you build will continue to burn cals constantly. Running is also fantastic, but do it several hours after lifting for the best results (at least I think that's what Will posted).

As for diet, eat as little as possible and take a multi-vitamin. If you eat protein, try only one small lean protein a day, like one grilled chicken breast and some celery and carrott sticks or a spinach salad with a bit of cuc and tomato and no dressing. Snack on things like Celery or have an apple if you absolutely have to eat more, and remember to drink plenty of water.

It isn't very healthy and I'll probably get yelled at for even trying to help, but you are an adult and are aware that it isn't at all good for you, right?

Yes, I'm aware. I've been doing a normal diet plan and losing about 1-2 pounds a week. But, I've got the opportunity to purchase a home... my dream home in fact.... and I have 6 weeks to come up with the down payment. I've been bartending at a club, but this has made me make the decision to get back up on stage. At my current size, I'm still smaller than some of the girls at the club (its a dive club), but I am more comfortable at a smaller size when it comes to dancing.

Lifting heavy weight will build muscle you need to lift light weight with alot more reps to tone/lose weight. You will just have to work out(cardio) everyday for as long as you can and try to eat as little calories as possible without being ridiculous! I dont care that everyone is so against crash dieting and all that because at the end of the day its your choice and if you look on google for tips on what models do etc im sure youll find loads of hints on how to lose weight fast. Drink lots of water. Also I know some people who have cereal for breakfast lunch then only one 'real meal' a day. And make sure not to eat late at night!

    Good luck!

But unless she is one of those rare, rare women (less than 1% of the pop I believe), it'll build lean girly muscles (which blast through cals and give that nice toned look). We don't have the testosterone necessary to bulk up and lifting heavier weights builds muscle and boosts metabolism much more effectively than light weight/high reps. Overdosing on cardio will work, but she'll end up flabby because her muscle will be the first thing that goes. Been there done that.

I was just thinking that cardio and lots of reps as she is only doing it for a few weeks not a long term plan, muscles take longer to gain. Its just what I have found from my own experience And just because something worked or didnt work for you doesnt mean it will or wont for someone else I think shell just have to try and see! Although if shes not eating a good ammount of calories and protein she wont gain much muscle despite any excersise she does but I dont think that is her aim anyway.

I have a part as a dancer in a musical next month so right there with you. I am the biggest of the four girls in the show and really want to lose as much flab as possible. I cut out all processed carbohydrates for 2.5 weeks and lost a noticeable amount of weight and all of my stomach bloat. I'm staying under 20 grams of carbs and at 1,200 calories until the show and drinking tons of water, but I know I need more exercise so I'm stepping that up this week.

I know how hard it is to get on stage when you aren't proud of what you look like.

I've lost 15 lbs in 2 months eating 1500 calories a day and less than 10g of carbs. Its not a lot, but its pretty good considering how much I cheat lol.

Yeah I'm a crazy diet girl. Low carb is pretty easy to stick to, I just have no will power. This is the latest thing that has caught my attention:

Drink a shit ton of water. Get a good bottle, like a klean kanteen (one with out BPA), and fill it and drink it all day.

Also, if you are taking a long sesh at the gym, don't just drink water, drink something with electrolytes in it as well. You can get low cal/no cal electrolyte supplements/additives at the grocery store, health mart, outdoor store (I like Zym tablets).

Running is great for loosing weight but you can injure yourself super easily. So run on grass, dirt, or a track. Try to avoid pavement. Blacktop>pavement.

Weights are your friend. No really. And you won't get to be some freaky Miss Universe even if you are benching 150lbs+. You need serious 'roids to get there.

You can speed up fat burning by doing a short workout at night before you go to sleep (and after you are done eating) by doing a short cardio workout (20-30 minutes). Doesn't have to be hard but enough to pull down your glycogen stores. Then, wake up, drink some water & do a quick short cardio before you eat anything. By working out before you eat anything w/low glycogen stores your body will pull more energy from fat but it's really hard to do.

Caffeine has been shown to have some ergogenic properties, just don't go crazy, and if you are going to use caffeine, do it before 3pm.

Eat two servings of veggies before you eat anything else. Don't eat white bread, white rice, white pasta. Whole wheat bread, rice, pasta but only after you have gorged on veggies.

Finally, be careful with really lo cal diets. Some of the side effects are lowered metabolism b/c your body thinks it's starving, cannibalizes muscle tissue, weakness, irritability, heart arrhythmia, even death.
