    Default New Car Shopping!

I think I want an SUV. I also know I want a foreign car. Any suggestions? Anyone have one they love? Im looking at the Kia Sportage but Im not sure. The last SUV I had was a Chevy Tahoe, and that was a loooooong time ago. Any advice is appreciated!

I don't know whats foreign or not, but I stand by Toyota as the best brand.. They have nice SUV's.
I'm not really educated on cars, I just think Toyota is the best. Have never had a problem with them-me and my family over the years..

X3 or X5? X5 has the highest rating by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety ever. Ever. Plus bimmers are fun as hell to drive.

My favorites are either the Lexus GX or RX. Mmmm. The RX is such a beautiful car. And it's amazing to drive. It also comes as a hybrid if that's what you're into.

If you don't mind an American model, the Chevy Equinox is highly rated and gets very good gas mileage for an SUV. It's rated at 32 mpg on the highway.

I know it's not a foreign make, but Jeeps are pretty nice.

I would love a lexus or bmw... but I think it would be irresponsible to buy one right now. Any extra money I have I feel should go towards books or tuition.

Agreed 210%!! I drive a 2007 550 and it is da bomb. Sadly, I'm probably going to sell my baby for something more econmical soon, but anway...it's my 3rd Beemer and they are all AWESOME!! hehe Plus it meets your foreign stipulation and as a bonus, I think the X5 is actually built in SC like my 550, therefore helping the US economy!! Oh, and the plant runs off the methane from a local landfill if I'm remembering correctly, so environmentally friendly.....K, now I'm ready to cry thinking of selling my baby.

They are gorgeous but one of the ladies that has one in the car-rider line at my sons school always has her battery going dead.... It's bizarre.. She drives this awesome tricked out Escalade and 3 times since school started (the last week in August) her battery has died in the pick-up line. I was in love with the CTS forever, but this has made me a bit leery.

Before someone asks, yep, we live in a snotty area and almost everyone in the car rider line drives a luxury vehicle, or a brand-new, tricked out pickup....which is what rich rednecks drive.

My battery has been very reliable. A twist of the key and it starts every time.

I'd go with Nissan, Toyota, or Honda. I've been looking at maybe a used Honda CRV for dog showing since I need the room. I've driven the Pontiac Vibe (which is the same as a Toyota Matrix) one time as a rental to a dog show. I absolutely LOVED that car. It has a lot of room even though it's small. The gas mileage is awesome too. One tank from OKC to Little Rock.

Don't recommend a Kia at all! Hondas are good cars. Reliable, decent gas, and they usually last for a long time in good condition.

My two Honda CRVs have 150K and 220K and both have had very few repairs, those being past 120K. Really it is almost wrong as it proves cars can be built that are that reliable.

That said, they are boring as hell. If reliability is the only factor then they are perfect, but there is simply nothing fun about driving them. They work, gas mileage is pretty good, and that is all.

LOL the X3 doesn't have enough power. I had it as a loaner once and it barely made it up the hill near work.

Yes BMWs are great cars to drive.

Well get the new 3-series diesel if you want to go more green.

    BTW I think I know that 5-series

I will suggest go for the Range Rover. Make sure to get the ones that were released in 2008 and after. It is a good piece of machine.

Why do you have to have a foreign car? Ford makes some outstanding cars, and honestly, if there are two things that American car makers do well, it's trucks and SUVs.
