So, as I understand it, hair cannot receive the oily benefits of the scalp beyond 8 inches. Thus it is recommended that you wash your hair no more than every other day and use a boar bristle brush to "spread" the oil down to the ends.
My question is- is there anything that mimics the scalps natural oils? My hair is about 16 inches long and I have no complaints about the first 8 inches but I can't get moisture to the bottom lengths. I just don't have enough oil to spread.
I use K-pak reconstructer conditioner once a week and the AVEDA smooth infusion from mid-shafts to ends and that sort of works, but I'd rather not keep masking the problem and work on really repairing the ends better.
My intuition tells me this is just an unavoidable part of having long hair that was chemically processed... but if you have long beautiful healthy hair please share your thoughts on nourishing beyond the first 8 inches...

? Most ppl with long hair wear those styles (buns in particular) to both grow and maintain their hair. If anything, the best styles for growing and maintaining long hair ARE buns, braids (to wear to bed or even as a type of bun), and then ponytails.
