Just as long as you don't show up looking tired!

You're a good candidate not just because you want to work there, but you also know the product because you wear it and shop it regularly. You are familiar with the many uses and applications of the many different types of lingerie offered and can deftly recommend choices for many occasions so as to help customers decide on products or even to upsell them. You know how to warm up to a customer so that you ARE able to recommend those choices and to determine how each customer should be guided through the sales process in their own unique manner as your ability to read personalities helps you to expertly address each customer on their individual needs while not over stepping on an boundaries that might offend some people.
Then there is the standard attitude that you see yourself climbing the ladder to manage the store or even maybe a region for the company so the interviewer understands you intend on staying for a while and the investment in you will reap rewards for the hiring manager.

A strength can be something as simple as you really look the part and the way the clothes you wear to work truly exhibits the way a woman buying lingerie wants to feel when she is wearing the garments you are selling her. Your knowledge of customer service combined with your desire to sell and promote the products creates a dynamic causing people to recognize your magnetic personality which should probably result on a lot of repeat business.

I don't know much about weakness except that there are way too many men who are made of weakness.

I hesitate to post this but two of my friends have worked there and they both rate it as the worst place they have ever worked; working conditions, no breaks/short breaks, the money and the two hours+ of making the store look nice after closing

Yes, I worked there for under two weeks and absolutely hated it. There was a night we HAD to stay, off the clock, to stock and re-stock inventory and make sure every single panty on display and in the drawers were set out precisely.

Doesn't sound bad at first, but there were literally hundreds upon hundreds of panties in each area and they had to be categorized perfectly. So the store closed around 8 or 9 and setting out inventory took until about 1 or 2 am...And I was a college student, with exams the next morning, and that was NOT cool. Plus it wasn't considered overtime, nor were we warned in advance (or at least I wasn't as a new hire). I quit that night!

One of the worst college jobs I ever had. Had more fun selling cell phones and working as a hotel concierge/receptionist and assistant at mental health crisis line. But, if you can deal with it, and really love Victoria's, I wish you the best of luck!!!!

    Oh HELL NO!

I'm pretty sure that's illegal, isn't it? To make employees work for free??!?

I would have thrown a fit.

Yeah I have to agree about it being a shitty workplace, I interviewed there and didn't even bother to follow up because it sent my alarm bells off. And I have heard horror stories from people working at some of their sister companies too.

Victoria's secret is owned by the "limited brands" of stores. That is store called the limited and limited express.

Just an FYI but The Limited and Express are no longer part of the Limited Brands company.

I've worked for Express for a very long time, and I'd reccomend them over Victoria's Secret. Working for Victoria's Secret is not-so-hot, but hey, a job's a job, and good luck!

^^^ Yeah, and that pisses me off to. At least at the club I have the possibility of making money.

Seems to me that if VS is making employees work off the clock, they definitely have grounds for legal recourse.

All the above scares me, but Id still like to see for myself. Right now Ive been living with my b/f for few months and I quit the club in June and since then he's been taking care of me. It was nice at first. But now I cant even SPELL independent. (is that right?) LOL So any place that hires me Im satisfied and I will do my best.
Well the interview went well for me. I didnt sleep till 3am bcuz I was upset with the man at home, but I woke up at 7am, and got there at 8am,an hour early. I was proud of myself!
So I will hear by Tuesday at 4pm. Im so very excited about this job and I really really want it!!
    Thnks for the posts!

Ok I will try my best to put on a positive spin (told I am to negative). This is your chance to learn sales . Get on that cash register and credit card machine first; most anywhere you go it will have a register. knowing how to add and item after total, void item, void sale, and how to use all the functions will pay off at most any job you go to that is paid wages.

Now learn sales, it is the about persuasion. They are there, they think, they may want the item, convince them they need it.

    Three words. Feel, Felt, Found.

Example: Many women FEEL this perfume is a better brand than X, because it lasts so much longer and doesn't overwhelm. Most in fact FELT this was a better purchase over X, as these attributes enhanced their outfits at work and out on the town. In some cases many women have FOUND that this is the only fragrance the wear anymore.

Dress age appropriate and for business not out to the club. Have you been by to see what your co workers are wearing?

Small tasteful jewelry kept at a minimum (two or three pieces). Light on makeup, see the MAC counter and tell them you need a business look and ask them for help.

Library - Books on sales I like the for dummies series or complete idiots guide. Either explains well without then need to impress the reader with big points scrabble words.

Prepare yourself to be criticized. Somebodies gonna tell you what your doing wrong. Just ask them to show you the right way and confirm that with the Manager.

Christmas is coming so get ready, learn fast, ask a lot of questions, your gonna be on your own soon. When in doubt write it down. May impress the boss if you have a notebook and write stuff down.

    Good luck.

In my experience, all those clothing and department stores make you stay hours off the clock after closing to cash out and organize their shit with zero overtime pay. They don't care if you have kids or school the next day, they will make you stay and do that shit for free. Combine that with standing on your feet all fucken day and their 15 min. lunch breaks.. the employee discount doesn't begin to compensate the agony.
    Retail labor =slave labor.
I'm so glad I don't have to put up with that shit anymore!

    They should really sue.

Having spent most of my working life in retail, including Vickie's, I have a lot of battle scars and horror stories to tell. However, this means more to you than just to say you work there. It means having your own money in your pocket and you learning to discipline yourself which is why you were an hour early. Two pieces of advice for you, keep up with the selling of the Angels card they care about those numbers more than the actual products you sell. Also know that this is not a commission job you could have the highest sales but there is no real reward for your efforts, so further down the line in your career if you want to be appropriately compensated for your work I suggest using your experience at VS to get a personal shopper position at a high end department store. I'm very proud of you for wanting to take back control and I wish you the best of luck.

That sounds like a good idea. It should be pretty easy to voice record the manager asking you to work extra hours off the clock. I know my iPhone has a built in voice recorder, haha.

Congratulations on getting the job, Xiomara! Whether you end up loving it not,you will be getting your feet wet and will be better equipped to move up within the company over time if you like it or move on to something which may better suit you. I wish you the best of luck.

Just wanted to address Elvia's concerns: I agree with your sentiments on the legal flimsiness of what us co-workers were required to do. However, my experience with them was over 6 years ago. I was so disgusted over being forced to fold zillions of undies after closing yet I quickly went on to better student jobs so I didn't stress over wanting to go back and sue such a massive corporate chain.

I still love their products, lingerie, and clothing and continue to patronize them but would never consider working there again.
