Saw this a few days ago. Feel real bad for her and her husband. Just goes to show you how quickly life can change...And you wont see it coming till its to late![]()

Fuck, that is heart breaking.I hope they find a cure for her. That really sucks, man.
And to think I was gonna get the flu shot at the drug-store... um, I think I changed my mind.![]()

I take 1000 mgs of Vit. C almost everyday. I hope I don't get the flu this year. Shit sucks monkey dick!
My wife's OB is pretty much telling her she has to get the H1N1 shot when it's available; hope there's no issues for either her or the baby...
^^^^ Personally, I only take shots that I absolutely NEED. Any vaccination irritates your immune system, and can take time off of your life. The FDA justifies it by comparing this against the number of lives it saves. This is how it gets approved, and there's a name for the process, but I can't think of it.
Things like this are so rare, I'm sure it will be ok.

Then there is the risk of dying from a flu. It's like you can't win.![]()
I'm ambivalent about vaccines; obviously, they've helped to eradicate things like polio. OTOH, do they weaken our immune system by not having to deal with the full germs? Not enough of a medical guy to have an informed opinion, but...
I DO think Jenny McCarthy went a bit overboard...

Jenny McCarthy is an idiot. Throw in Suzanne Sommers and Oprah the quackery enabler and you create an unfounded distrust of sound science that may lead to the re-emergence of diseases we once had basically eradicated.
Here is why the H1N1 virus is concernng heath officials. It's affecting heathy, young people at an atypical and alarming rate.

^^^ But it's not really young people that it's proving fatal for. I heard on the news that only 20% of deaths from swine flu have been amongst young people, and I have to wonder if a large percentage of those were in Mexico, where a lot of people probably didn't get treatment in time.
I'm skipping it. The one time I got a flu shot I felt like crap for days after wards.

I've never had one, and never had the flu. I personally think that only high risk groups should get flu shots. If you have a normal immune system, don't waste your money.
I mean this for seasonal flu, not H1N1.

Everyone I know who got the shot was in bed for 2 days afterwards anyway (although I guess its better than the usual 2 weeks where you feel like you are dying)
Its sad that this girl just happened to be the 1 in a million adverse case though. But, considering how many people get the flu shot every season, there are bound to be some mishaps

I think I got the flu when I was a kid. It hurt like hell.
I don't get flu shots either. I'm too chickenshit. I hate illness, and I think I am honestly going to die any minute. I am the type of person that is constantly monitoring myself when I'm sick and if there's one little change, I think I have to go to the emergency room. LOL.
Yep.
