Can anyone suggest a good product for protecting your hair while heat styling?
Can anyone suggest a good product for protecting your hair while heat styling?

Please try FRIZZ-EASE.
^^^ I don't think that one offers heat protection per se. The Sebastian Trilliant is really light weight, with a little hold. It definitely won't offer any smoothing or weighing down. If you don't kind of want that, if you have thicker hair, I also like Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream. It's really really nice too, but it's made with olive oil and it's a cream. The Sebastian is a spray.
Here is what I use:

This one is nice if you want the Victoria's Secret hair look. It offers heat protection, gives a texturizing hold (similar to a light hair gel) and also is a protein treatment all in one. It doesn't rough up the hair cuticle like other volumizing products, it helps strengthen your hair. I use this one every once in a while. I love to scrunch it on my roots, then blow dry upside down, then round brush length to ends.

This is my everyday heat protection product. You shake it up to combine the three layers (it looks sort of like oil floating on water with glitter at the bottom) Then spray it on liberally and blow dry and/or flat iron. It helps to hold which ever style you wish, and I feel like most of the product evaporates from the heat, so there is very little residue actually left on your hair. Just a little shine, slight hold, and awesome heat protection so you don't fry your ends!

I really love this one too. It has olive oil in it, and is a thick cream. I only use a dime size amount for my entire head. It offers shine without greasiness, smoothes and softens your hair unbelievably, and of course protects from heat. This is kind of like a leave in conditioner, if you like something of that consistency.
I love all three of these equally, and use whichever one depending on my mood.
And one that I DONT like:
Kenra Hot Spray - do not buy this unless you want to feel like you have sticky gunk on your hair all day. Kenra makes unbelievable hair sprays, but avoid this product at all costs!

Please don't post about things you know nothing about. Yes, I realize this will mean you won't be able to post at all here.
JD - thanks for those links, i'm gonna check them out, i def need a good heat protectant. and good call, kenra is def NOT it! they have a good smoothing creme for before you blow dry, but that heat spray just feels like hairspray.
i just bought this yesterday and will post if it works.

i also just got a keratin treatment. i suggest that to the OP if you have badly damaged hair but need to keep using heat.
i want to figure out how to use rollers! they seem slightly less damaging and the hair just looks beautiful![]()
I have rollers, theyre reallyeasy to use once you get the hang of them and if you look on youtube there are aload of tutorials i found a good one if you want the link. I love the look aswel! But the results never last over an hour for me but if I use a curling iron the curls last all day so i dunno what it is.
I have also had a keratin treatment. I am a firm believer in heat protection, if used consistently your hair will be so much healthier in the long run. Laurcon, let us know how that T3 stuff works out!

OK. OK. OK.
I take my recommendation back.
But I still think my recommendation was just as good as of JayATee if not any better.
Thanks everyone, I have indeed tried the frizz-ease line before and am not a fan.
I love the kerastase line so I'm definitely going to be giving that a go first. Thanks JD!
I have a keratin treatment which is pretty good but ever since I found the Aveda damage repair conditioner, I need little else, thank god. It's so weird, ever since I switched to a sulfate free shampoo my hair has been much harder to manage and I'm finding the need for more protection.
That's not the first time I've heard someone say that sulfate free shampoos didn't work out for them. You know how Kerastase has those different forumulations? Like, the pink bottles are one specific line, then the green, and the orange, etc. all for different purposes like volumizing, restoring, shine, etc. Well, each "line" has it's own version of a heat protection product, and the one I listed is for strengthening weak hair, but it is part of the volumizing line. If you don't want a volumizing product, it might be worth checking out the heat protection product from a different line, I just happen to really like that one, but since it has protein in it, you can't use it everyday. Everything Kerastase is really good, so you can't go wrong with any of them!

I'm a big fan of Redken....Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide is fantastic. It's not cheap but the bottle lasts forever and a year! You only need a little bit. Redken Iron Silk is also nice and works when I get serious kinks and don't wanna hafta go over my hair with the iron a million times.
If anyone's interested... I have been using the moroccan oil and it it a friggin miracle. I used to use biosilk, but the oil seems to provide heat protection and isn't at all greasy.

I use Beyond The Zone - Turn Up The Heat. Been using it for about 6 years now. I love it.

It's amazing!
oh yeah, for heat protection, I've been using chi silk infusion. It seems to work fine. I really want some of that its a 10 stuff though.
This is my favorite product:

I second the Chi. It seems to give a thick texture to my hair and adds volume.
I also use Ion heat protections, that I love. It softens my hair and acts like a condioner as well. It also helps w/ split ends. But use sparingly as it is kind of oily. I have medium-fine super curly hair and I don't need much.

Warren-Tricomi has some good stuff.
And Sephora carries No Frizz by Living Proof. It's pretty awesome stuff.
