    Default Negative Stereotypes about Dancers

So, I went to the Penthouse on Friday, with recently reopened after being shut down by the City of Houston for several months... I met a petite, buxom and nice dancer who looked so sweet and innocent, but gave me one of the most erotic dances I've ever had. She spent most of the time on my lap (I don't think she was ever on her feet) intimately rubbing and grinding on me (facing me the whole time with her huge breasts all over me) and afterwards told me she doesn't do "dirty dances" like the other girls.

Anyway, when I asked her if she was friends with the other dancers, she said no because... and then gave me a litany of negative stripper steroetypes... they do drugs, they do extras, etc... It occurred to me that this wasn't the first time I've heard a dancer say something like this. This SC is a nice club, so I have a hard time believing that all the other dancers do drugs, extras, etc...

So what's up with that - dancers expressing negative stereotypes about other dancers and avoiding any fraternizing with other dancers? Is this common? Is a dancer's expression of negative stripper stereotypes when speaking of other dancers any different than a non-dancer's negative stereotyping?

First, It was unprofessional of her to make generalizations about the other girls this way to a customer. It makes her look catty. That being said, to answer your questions--yes, it is common for girls to badmouth other girls for various reasons. Yes, there is a huge difference of the type of stereotyping among dancers and non-dancers due to perspective. Dancers may stereotype or associate other dancers as being extras girls, druggies, etc., and some of them are, but many of us are not. Women who have never worked in this industry may have the idea that we all want to steal their men and that we make tons of cash for just being hot and slutty. Successful dancers work damn hard for every dollar, and many of us have husbands and/or families and are just trying to make a living./pay for school.

Would a Chevy salesman tell you that Ford makes a great product?

Would Burger King tell you to go to McDonald's?

It's all about salesmanship inside the club...

I am one of those who doesn't make friends with the other girls very often. I'm going to schol, never done a single drug a day in my life, and don't have drama. I don't want any.

I have two close stripper friends in Austin. I met both of them when I was working out here before I moved, so about eight weeks ago. It took six weeks of dressing room conversation for me to part with my number.

I was burned very very badly and taken for about $2500 by two "friends" in SF years ago, so now I'm really cautious.

That all being said I wouldnt discuss it with a customer.

Yep - it was something she said in order to insure that in the future you only get dances from her, instead of the other "dirty" girls.

I don't agree with this tactic. Like somebody already said, it is catty, unprofessional, and it CAN backfire.

Exapmple, the first year I danced there was a newbie girl that would go home with 20-30 dances a night because she just. wouldn't. stop. hustling - like EVER! She was sacving up for art school and moving to a different state so the days that she worked, she never took a break and never stopped asking for dances and tips, even if she got rejected several times in a row. This girl was unstoppable! It was truly amazing to watch her. Anyways, some of the older dancers got very upset and started telling customers that this particular dancer was a dirty girl, that she would do anything for a dollar, that she got nasty with her customers. Instead of repelling guys away from her, it instead made every guy get 1, 2, 3, 10 dances from her, each one hoping that he was going to get the "special treatment"! That girl made even more amazing money after all those rumours started spreading around her.

After the "clean" dance, I was so sexually charged that I actually wanted to try a "dirty" dance. (I'm not sure what the difference between "clean" and "dirty" is, and considering how intense the "clean" dance was, I can only imagine that the "dirty" dance must include extras and probably a happy ending.) I don't seek extras, but if I did, her comment would have prompted this question from me - Can you point out the ones that you don't like and that do extras?

well the girl from the OP's post would have been suspended at my club if management found out she was saying things like that as a warning, and then fired if it continued. we do not talk badly of our fellow dancers at our club. we're all working at "burger king", its not like i'm Chevy and another girl is Ford. we want our guests to return to our club, preferably with clients or co-workers. so badmouthing all of the other dancers isn't going to accomplish that. i'd personally rather a customer go with his exact type of dancer and be totally satisified and give my club a good name rather than him feel somewhat forced to spend money on me and end up being unhappy for one reason or another. if he likes busty brunettes, i'll go find him a good one.
salesmenship? would one car salesman say that his co-workers are all gonna rip you off?
who would even want to be around such an ugly person that would insult every other girl in the club? i know guys sometimes don't really care if a chick is a nasty bitch as long as she has big tits in his face, but to me, its a total turn-off and so un-sexy.

As unprofessional as it is for her to talk shit, she's right about the girls in that club. Trust me on this one, I know the place. And the ones who don't act like that tend to also keep to themselves. So, whilst its not 100% of the other girls in the club being dirty and doing drugs, its a large enough percentage where a smart dancer doesn't want to risk getting mixed up with that crowd and getting burned.

^^^ Are you referring to the dancers in the club before it was closed by the City of Houston or more recently, when it reopened?

I would never do this. Complaining about other girls to customers is unprofessional and can backfire like everyone said. I also take that "I'm a clean dancer and the others are whores," attitude with a grain of salt. I overheard another dancer complaining about some 'whore' dancer to a custy, when I've seen the dancer complaining making out with customers on several occassions. Whether its true or not, a dancer that complained to me in this way would be an immediate turn off and I would shut my wallet.

I don't hang out with any of the girls after work because I am too busy in my day to day life. But there are girls whom I like personally and have things in common with.

I was going to say... I would never say what she said cause don't guys want dirty dances? I don't want any customers to know they exist! hahaha. I never talk about the other girls (unless it is one of my long-time regulars and we are having a non-catty discussion that the customer brings up). Customers ask me all the time if I get along with the other girls and I just say, "I don't know them too well because I'm always busy working but they have all always been lovely to me."

The feds send some of New Jersey's more undesirable people down there; they then become owners. "Vinnie Ocean" is a legitimate business man just don't run up a large VIP bill and not be able to pay.

He also played the owner in Zombie Strippers.
