Default QUIT after my first day...

read and tell me if 1) my behaviour was ridic, 2) i could have found better - even for a newbie, 3) i should go back as that's as good as it's gonna get in the beginning, 4) i'm simply not cut out for this, or 5) a combo of 1-4 (please say which ones).

the 2 main reasons i left are because i simply didn't find the club or the girls of a very high quality. most of the dancers spent their time in the change room drinking - to the point that the manager had to come down and yell - and the clientele consisted of a lot of guys who seemed cheap and wanted to watch someone get a dance fromt he corner of their eye rather than pay for it (this could have been them saying no to me, however). also, a lot of the girls weren't working (and were standing around as much as my useless ass, i swear) and they talked about such innappropriate things (i.e. "i'm an ex-coke head" or "my bf beats me") in front of...well...anyone who would listen.
the only thing i actually liked about their behaviour in the club was that they didn't help me out much (although one girl did offer to teach me pole tricks), which i expect as this is supposed to be all about hustling, right?

now, i hope i'm not sounding too judgemental or stupid, but i thought their clothes - inside or outside of the club didn't say "money-maker". i mean, they all had dancer shoes, but their outfits were so...medicore. (e.x. my outfit resembled that of 2 dancers and it was just a shiny tube top that i wore as a dress!) even their style inside the house had me thinking "are they making any money at this club?" i saw no name brand clothing; none of them had a car; a few didn't have their nails done; and simple things that i thought came with being a dancer (paying to get your roots redone?) were not part of their beauty regime.
[aside: the girls i'm talking about here are not newbies and have been there between 1-5 years.]

i only made $40 and i feel like such a loser as it means i only got 2 lapdances (which were actually supposed to be on $10 but i said fuck that and made them pay $20) in 4 h and they threw me on stage where i'm sure i looked like a moron.

i guess i just found that all the dancers wanted to have too much fun. i'm not saying i want to be a bitter-betty and sit in the corner, but when the night was done i simply got ready for bed so i would be refreshed for the next day and most of them wanted to continue drinking and then slept all day.
[aside: i hope i don't sound like an uptight biatch as i'm really not (in fact, i was told i "got naked a little too fast" (lol!), but although i do see this job as fun (albeit, intimidating), my main goal is not to leave with a bunch of friends - it's to leave with a bunch of money!

please be gentle, but tell me your thoughts....

K so I wouldn't worry too much about the other girls. I dress like a slob when I come to work and bring nothing of value because I don't want it to be stolen. Most girls dancing clothes aren't overly flash or expensive because well..they are dancing clothes and they are coming off anyways. You don't want to work at a club full of really hot, glamourous girls because they are too much competition. From the sounds of things the club was a little too trashy though. Maybe something a little more upscale would be better. I would recommend to always go to any club you want to work at as a customer first. There's always going to be trashy girls in every strip club, so you need to get over that. You are not there to make friends as you said.

I can't really answer your questions unfortunately because I would kinda have to see the club to know. I never judge a new club off one night. What night of the week was it? That can make a big difference sometimes. The latest club I'm trying I've worked at 5 times and not totally sold yet. The first night was a disaster but there are a few things I really like about it so I'm giving it at least 3 weeks.

I'm curious? What city are you dancing in... you can PM me if you don't wanna say on here.

I wouldn't make a judgement call based on first day alone unless there were drugs and overly grabby customers everywhere. My first customer of my first night was an asshole but I just figured "it can only get better from here" and kept on truckin'. And I did great last night so it was definitely worth sticking around.

I think you should shop around for a better club and give it AT LEAST 3 shifts before you make up your mind, because first impressions aren't always the right ones (although sometimes they are).

The best thing you can do is look your best, do your best, be your best, regardles of what the other girls are doing. And then if they start trashtalking you or giving dirty looks, think of that as you doing your job well enough to make some bitches jealous

Sounds about right for many clubs I've worked at. If it looks like the dancers have no money, and you saw little to no evidence that there was a lot of money to be made, you are probably correct that this club is a waste of time.

I wouldn't judge the girls by the cars they drive or the brands of clothes they wear, however, grown out roots, bad dance outfits, nails in poor condition are all indications that the girls aren't making much money.

You may want to stick it out in this club for a bit (if you can afford to) to learn how to dance on stage and to perfect your hustling skills before moving on where there is more competition.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

I work with a girl who makes 3x what I make and she still doesn't do her roots more than twice a year. and she's got her hair dyed platinum from dark brown. D: Some girls just don't seem to realize that that's the sort of thing that should be maintained.
And I think there are a lot of us who don't like to bring name brand clothing/designer purses to the club for fear of them being stolen.
Also... strippers are weird folk when it comes to clothing... the trend where I live seems to be wearing tank tops and booty shorts/just a thong. *_* The girls make plenty of money and could be wearing something nicer... they just... choose... not to...

THAT SAID. It still sounds like the place you went to work in was a bit of a dive.
Like Paris said, maybe stick around to learn some moves and hustling skills... then go find a club that's maybe more of what you're looking for. Maybe something more upscale would work for you, from the sound of it.

There will always be girls that drink too much, or sit in the dressing room and whine... and you will always overhear ridiculous things in the dressing room (we have a whole thread about that). It's part of the job. You learn to ignore it and make your own money.

Who cares about how appropriate what they talk about is. I wear all my worse clothes to the club as not to waste my hot outfits I'm there to make $ not impress coworkers or have my namebrands stolen.

Also if u walked into my dressing room last nite u would have heard me and my coworkers discussing dick preferences and the crackhead who got fires. Its a stripclub not a bank or school.

The custies being stingy is a normal part of every club. I also hung out after my reg left cuz the other men were douches and I had my in my purse already.

This sounds normal for a sc...if the other girls looked so bad and weren't working as opposed to u bein glamed upp and hustling then I dunno why u didn't bank.

If u don't like the atmosphere maybe its not for u. Sounds like a typical club.

U could try somewhere very upscale if that's the issue but a sc is a sc.

not brining nice "normal" clothes makes sense, so i guess i should have given them a break there (although we did have our own rooms with our own locks, so it's impossible for anyone to actually steal and considering they are in the house for 1-2 weeks, you'd think they'd want a few nice things, but oh well).
i don't know how i feel about their cheap outfits, though. they weren't dancing clothes and more like lingerie or they just wore long shirts. i mean they looked like girls at a club not dancers.

maybe i shouldn't have run away so fast because you're right: i prob could have been one of the better looking girls there, making competition easier, but i had a feeling there were a lot of extras going on.

thanks for th advice, i shouldn't be such a wimp next time and tough it out a little longer.

i'm all about the car they drive as that seems like it should be the first thing they buy for themselves (after debt, of course, but they've all been there for years and if they haven't paid off debt i don't imagine the money is good.)

sigh, like someone else said a strip club is a strip club, but i'm afraid that if i surround myself with trashy girls who talk about being coke heads and getting molested than the clientele will expect me to be as trashy.

either way, i was just a baby and i shouldn't have stuck it out longer!

Sometimes extras don't affect you. Do your own thing, I bet u could make $ there. Focus. Pick your custies milk em for all they have. Be the hot girl, not the extras girl, lol.

    Good luck.

i would have ran from that place too. i don't know where you live, but i know not all clubs are like that. the job is mostly about money, but you still should feel good about what you do too. and working with those girls would not make me feel good at all. i'm all for starting somewhere a little shittier when you first get into stripping, but not that bad. look around for a club where at least some girls are pretty close to your standards. i'd say i'm working at my dream club now where the girls have nice cars and clothes and nails and hair, but it took me years of experience at clubs i didn't like as much. you'll find a good club fit eventually

did you already quit the club officially? i would try it again on a fri or sat if you didn't because maybe it was just a bad night for the girls and there are some good ones you didn't see yet.

I really don't know why you're so concerned with the other girls. There's a million legitimate things to be concerned about in a club- whether there's extras going on, security, money making potential...what the other girls choose to wear and what cars they drive doesn't seem like a real concern. Maybe a fancy car is a priority to you, but it's waaayyy down on my list of things to spend my money on.

As long as they're safe and not extras ridden, dives can be a great place to make money, and I definitely recommend them over the more upscale clubs to learn the ropes in. So yeah, I think you made a mistake in writing this place off so early on.

if there is a slightly more upscale club in your area try that, but since you are a beginner it might be ok to stick it out at this club for a little, i learned that going to a flashy club as a newbie is overwhelming and i should have started out at a smaller club i would have been a lot more comfortable. its possible that the club attracts men who want bj;s and nothing else or who are cheap but its also possible that you hit a bad night. part of stripping sadly is working with fucked up girls but sometimes at a club where the girls are a little bit of a mess you are more likely to stick out, and look more together, which will attract guys who have money and dont just want some messed up coke head grinding on them or passing out on them,.

So, you walk into the club on your first day and immediately start judging all the girls? I don't know about your behaviour, but your thought process definitely seems a little ridic. I mean, it's your first day. Maybe if you spent less time worrying about the other girls, then you'd have made more than $40.

Also, I totally get the "I'm here to make money, not friend" thing, but it sounds like the girls are living in the club? If that's true, then you'll be spending a lot of time with them, and it might be nice to have a friend or two. Of course, that's assuming that you would stoop so low as to be friends with someone who doesn't have a car or *gasp* hasn't touched up her roots.

Hon, sounds like you've been doing a little bit TOO much research and reading about strip clubs and hustling. You've just described a shitty night, that happens at any and all clubs, periodically.

However...you sold your two dances for double the price, $20. That is AWESOME hustling skills straight away. Ignore the other girls, keep moving, be present and not in the dressing room, and you WILL make a killing on another night.

Alas, you had a bad first night because there simply wasn't money in the club, that's ok. I'd be back there in an instant. Give it a full week. Like, work every day for a week, even if that means splitting it up over 2 weeks. Find out the good nights.

And remember, everywhere you go, the strippers will be just like that. Maybe not in some busy Vegas clubs, but yeah, a lot of strippers are lazy and/or fucked up. Who cares, not your concern. Make that money!

The nails thing was kinda harsh. I NEVER paint my nails. Ever. I have natural nails and have yet to have a man mention them in my entire life. Men don't give a shit about nails. Sorry, thats irrelevant but I just wanted to point it out. I'm not knocking girls who get their nails done, if you like them that way fine, all I am saying is not having nails done isn't necessarily an indicator of lack of maintenance of personal appearance...

It sounds like the club was just slow.. but honestly if all the other girls were just standing around it would have been a good opportunity to out hustle them and get the customers. At least you sold some dances, good for a first day! I wouldn't give up yet, but maybe look for a club where you feel more comfortable.

^ we can't leave the dressing room without a fresh mani/pedi. i think it could be a natural clear coat if they look really nice. but i think the OP maybe meant that the girls had broken nails and wayyyy grown out nails in bad need of a fill. its fine to maintain nice clean natural nails, but you can't get UV gels and let them grow out and break, that looks nasty.
perhaps i was harsh in my earlier post even. i think i've just been dancing for so long now i've forgotten some of the details of learning the ropes. perhaps i've chose to block some of it out of my mind and make it all sunshine and roses

Heh, almost none of the girls in my club drive nice cars, many don't even HAVE a car (myself included!)

Last Saturday a girl there made $1000 (all LD's and stage, in cash, no champagne rooms or credit card payments or anything). Girls average around $150-$250 on weekdays and around $250-$500 on weekends. There are always girls who make more and less than those averages, of course.

I think you judged this club's money-making potential a little prematurely, I would go back.

BTW- I made $40 my first night dancing too. Then $20. Then $60. Then on my fourth night I made like $120. It'll get better.

Also I don't do my nails. Just keep them short, clean and natural. How could I do dishes, yard-work and go camping regularly if I had a manicure?

I wouldn't give it much thought to those who don't have cars or flashy clothes. That's a stereotype and not always true. I've worked in clubs where you don't want to wear your best clothes, and many don't have cars. I've worked at clubs where many dancers drove cheap cars because they were saving for other things (school, buying a home, future, etc). Now if they were wearing rags then I'd wonder but otherwise no. I never wear nail polish so I wouldn't judge on that either. There were many clubs I danced at where I wore my simple outfits such as bra and panties or bathing suits because that was the kind of club it was.

I don't know if that was a bad club. I have worked in some dives when I started and even then I've walked out of clubs. I once walked into a club to audition, didn't like the club (looked dirty, girls looked drunk, etc) so I walked right out. I think feeling comfortable with a club is the most important thing and if you felt bad vibes maybe you did the right thing. Only you know. I hope you aren't basing it on money either. My first night dancing I made $7! It got better where I was making hundreds and sometimes even thousands.

I wouldn't judge money making based on dancers sitting around or being a lower class. I worked in many clubs like that and made a killing. There was a club I worked at where I made money because the dancers sat in the dressing room all night complaining about money. Others I banked at because I didn't have to compete with a lot of beautfiul dancers like I did at the better clubs.

Ya, the whole money making potential is definitly not one of theose things set in stone. At my club I can expect to have at least 1 day that I make nothing, but more than make up for it the rest of the week. Then again, last week I made nothing all last week, but have rebounded this week. If the people in your area are having a rough time making money, so will you. Unless you have a super cool regular you can call to just open a tab for you and let you buy as many drinks or VIPs as you want lol (i've seen it happen)

To being "flashy", as a stripper it's over-rated. The only girls that drive to my club are those of us that live out of town. The rest take a bus or catch a ride from the "driver". A guy thats basically a cheaper taxi for dancers only. Most of us literally roll out of bed and come to work in our pjs and just shower when we arrive. I know I personally get paranoid about people seeing the stuff I have and wanting to steal it or customers getting stupid ideas.

The dancers' behavior sounds appaling. Some things shouldn't be discussed within ear range of anyone let alone customers. Outfits vary. A bikini can work as well as an elaborate outfit in MOST cases, and as it has been stated previously, it all ends up on the floor anyway.

I don't blame you for leaving based on the girls' behavior, but in other circumstances I would've seen how a week would pan out money wise. Who knows, being the only girl with manners and class may have worked in your favor.

I know its been said a lot already, but I would try again just to get a better idea... I think my first night I only made $60 because I was so nervous! I do work in a bit of a dive, but I love it. Yes, I work with girls who would rather keep their habit(s) going than get a car, yes I work with some who let themselves go a little, yes *I* have grown out roots because after getting highlights in June I decided I didn't want to dye my hair anymore so they are grown out probably like 2 inches and will just keep getting worse until they grow out so much they get cut off, I rarely see "designer clothing" (although I rock a Coach bag most of the time, I don't see if as 'designer' since theres an outlet not too far away)--- Yes, I pay too much for my car note, but some of us like to keep our $$ stackin in an acct vs trying to impress people with labels. And if the girls are lazy, use that to your advantage;; if they lack hustle that makes your job easier (or atleast thats how it is for me)

Give it a few more nights then decide if you want to scope out other clubs Good luck hun, I hope that if this club doesn't work for you that you find one that fits!
