Default Getting into the "Stripper Zone"

How do you ladies prepare yourself before you go to work? I always find that it takes me an hour or so to loosen up after I get there, so I seem really tense and shy to everybody.

I'm not a dancer yet, but I've thought over how I can get myself into the mood before work already. I'll be trying to get myself into my alter-ego that is Laurisa, essentially.

My idea is very simple, and I believe it will help put me into the right mind set for work. What I will be doing is creating 5 CDs for 5 different moods that I believe will help me positively at the club. The CDs will be labeled 'sensual', 'fierce', 'erotic', 'powerful', and 'upbeat'. I'll put about an hour's worth of music on each CD (which is my current expected drive to work) so that I can put one in each day that I work and have some variety. The songs on the CD will represent the CD's 'emotional theme', and will help get me into that particular mood. Pick the songs, burn the CDs, buy a small CD case, throw em' in your car, and you're done!

    Laurisa,
I like your idea, and do consider this:

what if you are listen to FIERCE on the way to work, and the customers seem to be looking for someone who is upbeat and friendly. How do you change from what you just spend programming yourself to be (FIERCE) to upbeat and friendly?

Then you adapt like you every other day at work. If you find a man that wants you to be submissive and act innocent, then you 'read him' and do just that. If you find a man that wants you to be dominant and tell him like it is, then you adjust yourself to fit his needs as well.

I'm just saying that the CDs will help get me into the right kind of mood for the club, but not that I will necessarily stay in that mood for the entire night. It's just a starting point.

I would suggest you mix the tracks on each CD.

I've been studying NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) for the last few weeks, and the mind is a fascinating thing. It's not that easy to "just switch" from one programmed thought to another.

I see this every single night at the club. If a girl has programmed herself to think that "Tonight sucks, no one is buying dances" its not so easy to just switch to thinking "Mr Money just hasn't walked in yet"

I would suggest to make a bunch of CDs, but have each CD with all of the motivational moods on there.

I just try to get myself in a good mood before I go to work. I used to do my makeup before I went to work on the floor listening to Moby... very relaxing. Lately my thing has been soaking my feet in an epsom salt bath for a good 20 minutes. Really takes the pain away. Every time I do that I have a great day.

Yes, I agree with establishing a ritual before work:
1)Putting on your favorite tunes or watching something silly or inspirational.
    2)Doing your makeup before work,
3)planning out a cute but comfortable outfit to arrive to work in,
    while simultaneously ....

    4) imagining positive scenarios that are just waiting to be realized.

Whatever helps you de-stress before you even get into your car is essential, as well as soothing music, talk radio, or motivational cds while driving that will get you in gear for the amazing night that awaits you--EVERY night you go in.

For my own zone ritual, before work, I like to set aside my house fee in one pocket of my wallet, as well as an allotment of an extra 10 or 20 for snacks/drinks when I get to work. I use this as my petty cash and let it motivate me to earn back the house fee and what I put aside for incidentals before I can take a moment to pause.

Then I allow myself only a quick break before hitting the floor again and staying OUT of the dressing room until I reach a certain dance/dollar amount. Essentially, I use the dressing room as 'base' and can only go there after x amount of dances or y amount of money before I go play tag again! ;P

Keeps me 'hungry' and looking for prospects!

    Hope this helps!

The night I made the most money ever, I watched Labyrinth before I went to work.

I think David Bowie's package was responsible for my incredible earnings.

    I have the same routine every night;
I get ready at home so I have tons of space and bouncers aren't looking at me like get on the floor constantly and no DJ is asking me if I can go on stage. I always watch a movie while I'm getting ready (a comedy of some kind nothing depressing!)

I have a bunch of "driving to work" mixes that I blast on my drive over while chainsmoking...

Once I get to work, I get dressed and totally ready, then smoke a cigarette. Then go on stage and start my night.

For me the hardest part is getting my first ten dances... I don't really feel TOTALLY in the zone until that'S done-- it's also usually slow until midnight so it's harder to stay motivated. So I never let myself take a cigarette break until i've got my first ten down, which means I just have to sit on the floor. The mix of bordom and cigarette craving gets me through my first ten almost always
