Default UAW out to kill Ford ?

From the proverbial "good news -bad news" bin : Ford posted a $ billion profit for the 3rd Quarter BUT UAW locals have rejected a new contract deal at many of Ford's U.S. plants. UAW workers at six major Ford plants voted down a proposed contract that would give Ford cost parity with GM and Chrysler. At Ford's Flat Rock Michigan plant that builds the Mustang, workers balked at giving Ford the same
"no strike" pledge over wages and benefits that GM and Chrysler got.

The national UAW supported the proposed pact to try and protect U.S. based jobs. The Obama Administration took NO POSITION on the vote.

It should be remembered that Ford did not take any bailout or TARP funds and is NOT under the thumb of the Federal government as are GM and Chrysler.

Are we sure Obama doesn't want to take over the auto industry ?

If Ford is posting a billion dollar profit, they shouldn't have to worry about wage concessions.

Ford may crank up the intestinal fortitude to close down these Michigan plants and move the work to Canada ... where the CAW approved the wage and benefit concessions.

A no strike clause can be negoiated. It doesn't mean they will strike how many strikes have there been lately.

Whoever builds Mustangs I tip my hat to them. Don't tell Ford but a bone stock GT can go 100mph in 1/4 mile. It can do that seven times every Friday and not make a knock'n or go a rock'n. I'm told the car could do a few more mph and .3 less seconds.

I can go one hundred miles an hour because I have the almighty power of a Flat Rock on my dash.

Ford will save $4 an hour building a car in Canada compared to the US of A because Canada picks up health care.
