    Default Is this normal?

I filled out an application to dance at Silver City Cabaret in Dallas. I get an email on Sunday to come by Monday night. So, I came by last night. The dancer manager was busy giving orientation to someone else. I waited and they decided to have the VIP manager chat with me instead. He asks me why I have a bag of stuff. Well, I was under the impression the "interview" included the audition. He was all like "You know you can't work tonight right?". I was rather confused.

Anyways, he told me that his manager was going to have to call me sometime this week. Then, I would come back for my background check. Then he took me on a tour. I was rather disappointed because I got all fixed up after a rough day. I got on the bus dragging a bag of dancer stuff. Atleast I got to take a look at the dressing room. I met the housemom.

I hadn't had dinner and it was already nine pm. I had a huge headache and was feeling faint. So, they allowed for me to eat dinner. I paid for it. I got free drinks though. After about an hour and a half, the manager who was busier earlier came by. He asked me to come upstairs to talk. It turned out that I ended up getting my background check/finger prints done. I also filled out paperwork/W2 forms.

Apparently, I have to go somewhere to do some more of my background check? I don't know. I was confused by the whole thing. Anyways, I am going to start next week for orientation/getting set up. Atleast, that is what he said. At no point did they mention an audition. He also seemed confused by why I had a bag of stuff.

Is this okay? It seems like everyone else on here had to have an audition. They also kept assuming I wanted to work nights. Are they really hard up for girls now? They are hoping to collect more housefees? Did a bunch of girls quit and go somewhere else? Now that I think of it, there were only maybe 12 girls there. It was a Monday night though....

Maybe, I am worrying too much.

I was unaware that some clubs required background checks and fingerprinting to allow you to work there. Is that a normal procedure? I really don't want my employer having a set of my fingerprints, even a normal job doesn't do that. (With some exceptions).

I've heard of all different hiring policies. There have been some threads in Stripping General about the different procedures, so check there!

hmmm.. so i guess u got hired without an audition? if so, dope. if not, it is weird that you had to do all that just for the interview, thats kinda backwards. this is kinda what happened to me, the first night i went, i came with a bag and the manager said "ur not gonna work tonight, just letting u know..but u can audition, the dressing room is that way". and left it at that. so after they seen me preform, i had a feeling they were gonna let me down easily but they let me come back the next day and work..which i came from about 1 hour away..plus i have another job so its a hassle to travel..and no one had told me to bring my social security card so i could start. i was PISSED. but contained myself. it just seemed like they were brushing me off, or trying to get me to not come in, and give up, n get frustrated. then the next day, i had my SSC, but the oNLY BRIDGE to get to work was down so there was no way i could have gone to work.. AND I had the flu, so i thought they would just think i wasnt serious about working and not let me come back to start. well, i came back and they got me set up.. but it took the a fucking HOUR for them to get my orientation going and i felt sooooo brushed off, like no one wanted to help me! the day manager and the night manager kept shoving me in both directions, having me wait forever to get started. it was irritating, and discouraging. they really dont help you all that much. and since my club is higher end, they kinda expect you to know already whats going on. i never danced before so i had so many questions ..... this week was my first week, and i can tell you that club managers and staff vary at different places, but mine started to warm up to me after the second night, and after mingling and tipping them well.. so just stick it out girl, cuz its def worth it if you can.

It's a new city ordinance in Dallas. They are trying to keep out under aged girls, anyone charged with posession, or prostitution.

I guess I should've been more clear. I was really asking if it was normal that they have you go through all of that and basically have you hired, but without an audition.

Thanks for your response. I highly appreciate it.

Yes, I remember reading your posts. I am sorry your start was difficult. I am just concerned that they aren't being very picky out of desperation. If a bunch of girls quit because the money sucks, and they went elsewhere.... So, now they are trying to hire as many as they can. If they aren't getting many customers and trying to make up for it in collecting as many house fees as possible... I don't know.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it as well. I will just see what happens when I start next week.

I work in Dallas and every club requires a background check and fingerprints. I have worked at 3 clubs so far and never had to do an audition. They just gave me the address to go get the finger prints and let me work that day. I havnt worked at Silver City so its possible that they do things different. You will have to get a background check every year.

I checked out Silver City as a customer to see if I wanted to work there about 2 months ago. It was a Saturday night and they were pretty much dead even though they were having drink specials and a football game that night. There were about 10 customers and probably about 8 girls if I remember and nobody was tipping. Plus the dancers seemed pretty stuck up to me. My friend that I brought along went to go tip a girl on stage and she rolled her eyes when she went over to him. I never saw one girl smile.

Hmm okay. I was under the impression they make everyone audition. Thank you for the response. I guess if that is what alot of clubs around here do, then I feel better. I thought maybe they were being very lax about the whole thing lol. I appreciate your response.

Yeah, I went there on the Saturday before Halloween at night. It only seemed like ten girls were working. Then last night was kinda dead too. But it was Monday night... I did see some smiling, but maybe they were drunk? Lol. J/k. I was hoping that with a smaller number of girls it would help, but maybe this is not a good sign lol.

Yes, every CLUB requires you to get a background check from BioVerify. So if you get it done for Silver City, but then you go to Rhino, Mens Club, Lodge, etc you will have to get it done EVERY time for EACH club.

It is $50 if you are a TX resident, an extra $50 if you are from out of state.

It is good for one year. Then you have to renew for EVERY club EVERY year.

    Sure prevents club hopping, huh?

Wait, every club nationwide or every club Texas-wide? I'm all the way up in Michigan, and to be honest some of the clubs down here by Detroit are real shit holes... I wouldn't feel comfortable forking over my fingerprints so I could dance nude to some of these places. I guess if push came to shove I'd have to, but I'm curious if Michigan clubs require fingerprinting and background checks.

Thanks to britneyireland for posting up the fees for a background check, but how much does the fingerprinting cost? I'd like to know in case they enforce those policies up here in Michigan!

It's only in Dallas. In Fort Worth they run your name through the computer for a five minute criminal background check, but they don't do all the fingerprint nonsense. Other cities and/or states have similar policies though. In Vegas, you have to get a Sheriff's card AND a business license. It is a huge pain in the ass. I think in Detroit you have to get an agent, and some sort of license as well, but I don't know too much about it.

Skylar, Silver City is the only club that makes you go to a different place to get your fingerprints done. Usually at a club you would go in, the manager would eye ball you and decide to hire you or not. Only at the Lodge do you have to audition up on a side stage. Then, you would be sent to a little place near all the clubs on I35 to do your fingerprints. That place, Bio Verify, will give you a paper to bring back to the club, and then you would do all the rest of the paperwork at the club. Then, you would do the orientation and work that night.

At Silver City, you halfway do your fingerprints at the club, then go to some place on Mockingbird to finish them. It's really weird, but whatever. I'm surprised you didn't work that night. Silver City is about to get better, Fabian is back on the night shift.

Detroit is the only city around here that requires a special license in order to dance. The club I'm setting my sights on is in Ypsilanti and doesn't require a special license to my knowledge, thanks for the clarification.

    .
Actually, it differs by county or city, even in Texas. In Austin, we have no such policy.

I've also been hired at several clubs without having to audition. They just looked at me and decided I was hot enough. That's why its important to look your best when you go in there. Do full makeup, high-heels, nice nails, and a cute dress or jeans and tight low-cut top.

    Aww thanks everyone.

@ JD Fabian wasn't there. David had me do all the paperwork and stuff. I actually am going to work dayshift. I thought about starting this week, but due to my schedule I will only be able to work one day. I am going to start on Monday. Bobby said that there is a fee you pay to go home early. He didn't seem to know how much it was though.

I've never heard of Bobby, but he doesn't know what he's talking about. Please don't give any manager or bouncer any money to go home early, you should be able to go without paying off someone. David is alright, I've had words with him though. He's a no nonsense type of guy. Fabian lets me get away with murder, seriously. I miss stage all night sometimes just because, and he never says anything to me about it.

To be honest, I've heard day shift sucks right now. The day shift got raided not too long ago, and that drove off many dancers and customers. I would do 4-12 or night shift if at all possible. Also, find a waitress to work with, and tip her out when she brings you to tables. Jenny is my favorite waitress there, tell her you are friends with me (I PM'd you my name) she will hook you up. I also really like Julia AKA Penny (I call her Penny because she dyed her hair copper red). These two girls can help you make a lot of money. Good luck lady!
