Default Hilarious conversation with Sprint customer service

I wanted a copy of my text message records so that I could review some things and so I went on www.sprint.com to talk to a customer care representative via Sprint Web Chat.

    Laurisa
Initial Question/Comment: Need text message records

    System
Thank you for contacting Sprint. My name is Stephanie D.. In order to better assist you; may I please have your name?

    Laurisa
    Laurisa

    Stephanie D.

I apologize sincerely however we do not currently offer the option to see text message logs or the content of the messages. You can only retrieve text details by having the account holder submit a notarized form to Corporate Security, and text content may be provided to law enforcement agencies with the appropriate court order. Neither detail or content is provided on sprint.com

    Laurisa
    wait

    Laurisa

so the only way I can get a copy of my texts is with a notarized form and if they are handed over to law enforcement?

    Laurisa
damn, kwame should have used sprint.

    Laurisa
why can't I access my records?

    Stephanie D.
I am gathering this information for you at this time. One moment please

    Laurisa
    okay

    Stephanie D.
The FCC regulations prohibit Sprint from being able to provide this information.

    Laurisa
Then how did they get Kwame's texts? The newspaper said it was public record!

    Laurisa
stupid reporters, just trying to juice up the story.

    Stephanie D.
May I ask who you are referring to?

    Laurisa
    Kwame Kilpatrick

    Laurisa
The mayor of Detroit, he got busted for a sex text message scandal because some reporter got ahold of his text message records

    Laurisa
it was all over the news

    Laurisa
they said the text message records were public record

    Stephanie D.
This may not have been for sprint. I apologize.

    Laurisa
It is alright, he went to jail for it anyway.

haha, I thought that was so funny. I get so frustrated with those people that I have to make it into something funny when I know they won't help me.

I think those people are only qualified to answer questions that you could probably find yourself by looking at the site or your account. Whenever I've had really hard questions, customer service was useless or would throw me back into the queue for another agent to tell me they didn't know either.

Well, she was right. They won't give me my text message records, I can only access old phone records via online bill records.

Did you get the form for the "corporate security" people?

In PA, all of the records of the service contract, including the text messages, for a government-owned cell phone used for government purposes are public record, and can only be redacted or withheld if the information would disclose the fact or progress of an investigation.

Yeah the reason that they were allowed to get his records is because he is a public official and the Detroit taxpayers (the city) actually paid his bill. A crafty newpaper reporter got that information together and was able to pull the text message records.

Unfortunately though I am not a public official or celebrity, nor is my bill being paid by a city, so I do not think I will be able to access my records. Kind of sucks, but oh well.

That doesn't make sense... I watch Judge Judy all the time and tons of people come in with copies of their text messages to use against the defendant. Some of them seem so dumb that I wouldn't think they would even know to get a court order to see the messages. Maybe the show is able to get an order to retreive them.
It makes no sense that you can't just get them if they are from your own phone. Damn and I'm with Sprint too.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
