How do you guys convince yourself to make it to work when you don't feel like it? I'd like the money, but I'd also like to stay home. Its just too nice to have to option to go whenever you want.

Well, if I"m not feelin' it, and I don't need to work, I stay home. But if I need to make myself go in, I usually just listen to some music that pumps me up. Music works wonders for my mood. Also, get your blood pumping by exercising. It will boost your spirits and confidence. But I definitely feel you. Sometimes it is so hard to motivate myself to go in.

I don't know about you, but I don't have that option. I mean, if I don't work my bills don't get paid. Sure, there are times when I -could- not work, but I always wind up feeling guilty about it when I don't go in. I don't "want" to work pretty much any day anymore. For me, the only thing that helps get me motivated is to think about the (few) things I enjoy about going. I think about the girls I like that I work with, I think about the music I want to hear that day, I think about how the exercise will be good for me.
Basically, I try not to think things like "omg it's probably going to suck today, I bet that asshole ___ will come in, I probably won't make any money, someone is going to say something horrible to me"... etc etc
Because I can't predict the future and no matter how terrible my last shift(s) were, I don't know what the next one holds.. and I'm going in anyway... so thinking catastrophically about it isn't going to do any good.
Also, try to focus on the next 1/2 hour rather than think about later. I know it sounds silly but it helps sometimes. Like, just think about "ok, now I need to go shower.. that'll be nice..I have a new body wash" or whatever. Do that and then focus on the next thing. Before you know it you'll be at work.
*adding one more thing*
it's a little hokey but "pretending" is a nice trick to fool yourself into thinking you like/want something. A lot of people say if you pretend/act something enough, you can start to feel it. So, pretend you really want to go to work. You might not feel that way at first. In fact, it'll probably feel "stupid" but eventually you'll believe yourself. It's actually how a lot of self-motivation techniques work. It's called positive-self-talk or..... something![]()

I'm with Penny. I mean, some days I would just like to lie in bed and sleep and eat junk food, but I get up and get on with my day. It's the same as any job. You work because you have to, not because it's fun. Everybody in the world does it.

I don't get the option. I like my cars and house. I don't look at it any differently than I would any other job. I need money and I need to work to make it.
Sorry I missed church. I was too busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian.
