^^^yeah, raising our own food plus being debt-free will prevent those discussions from happening with my kids.

as for IVF, there is a rush actually, because fertility declines steeply for women after age 32 (with a smaller, but fairly large decline after age 25, and this includes ability to gestate the baby) and if you wait until 33-34, you increase odds of miscarrying your hard-purchased IVF cycles. older female celebrities have tons of money and lose a lot of embryos to get their twins. some women face donor eggs at best as early as age 35 if they want to have their own pregnancy.

fertility is not something to be lightly considered if a woman wants to gestate her own children because women don't actually have that many fertile years.

For some reason I thought you were getting a divorce, Audrey?

But on the topic at hand, I would wait. Debt sucks, and you've got plenty of time.

Tack that onto even the cheap $2000 and add travel expenses and its cheaper here. All together for it its between $11-12k depending on my meds... thats with using Kaiser.
I didn't know the meds were so expensive. Are they that expensive in other countries too? I know that some medications are a lot cheaper in other countries. Many Americans travel to Canada or Mexico to buy prescription drugs because they're much cheaper there.

I'm usually pretty fiscally conservative, but there are a few things for which I'm not. This would be one of them.

At an extreme, the way I'd look at it is, if I really wanted a child (and I'm still iffy on that one), I'd rather have the child and go bankrupt than not have the child and not go bankrupt.

That being said, you're only 28, and there are other factors - like having the money to try multiple times, being able to afford to raise the child properly, etc.

I were you, I'd make a maximum effort to pay down debt for the next year and see where things are at. I like the suggestion of storing eggs - but 28 or 29, not much of a difference. So, how about this: pay down as much as possible, try one run at it in a year (and store extra eggs at the same time). If it works, great, if it doesn't, let it rest for a while longer, keep on paying off more debt, and try again a few years later (with the stored eggs, if necessary)?

Of course, this is my own personal reaction - or what it would be if I wanted a child definitely.

Ive been told about a reputable company in Europe to get them from. It may cut my costs by a good 30%. When it comes to meds I don't mess around. I HATE them - I dont even take ibuprofen so injecting myself with hormones isn't ideal - especially if I don't trust 100% where they came from.
