    Default Obama's Magic Lawnmower

I thought about putting this in the existing thread critiquing Obama's non- stimulating "Stimulus" package but it is just too entertaining on its own merits:

From Recovery.gov - $1000 is Stimulus money was spent in Arkansas to buy a lawnmower. According to the Obama Administration, that one purchase "saved" 50 jobs. Only in Arkansas, home state of Bill Clinton would it take 50 people to mow a lawn.

The site is just replete with example after example of ridiculous claims of jobs "saved" with stimulus money.

The bureaucrats at one time could get away with such things. The nice thing about Obama's more transparent government efforts, is that this sort of thing becomes more easily spotted.

I don't think we can blame Obama for the actions of state workers. These people have no sense of innovation or creativity, so they do what they can - $1,000 lawn mowers! LOL!

Could they use it on small business loans? Starting a business seminars? Of course not. They are accustomed to destroying business at every opportunity (take for example the over-regulation of strip clubs.) They simply don't know how to be pro-business.

Paris, in a private message, pointed out riding lawnmowers that cost this much. I dropped the ball on this one. Kudo's to Paris.

She also claimed in a PM to me that 50 jobs could be saved by buying one riding or self-propelled lawnmower. At TWENTY dollars a piece ? 50 people working for $20 a year each ? $1000 isn't enough to save a single "burger flipper" job for more than a month or two.

Well, she didn't say that to me. She pointed out a valid flaw in my comment.
