Dizzy When are high heels practical?

Outside of the club of course!

I think I'm having a shoe identity crisis... I'm obsessed with heels. They're what make up most of my shoe collection. But sitting here looking at the collection, I'm realizing how little I've ever actually worn them.

I'd love to wear them more but I'm also having a hard time coming up with practical everyday sort of uses for them. I don't really go out clubbing often or anything and I get nervous about wearing them in normal everyday situations because I don't want to be over dressy or be giving off the wrong impression.

I'd hate to part with them, but some I've had for 5 years and barely touched them. If I can't find a good use for 'em then it might be time to say goodbye.

When do you ladies find them to be practical to wear? And for those of you who do actually wear them on a daily basis, how did you ease in to making them a part of your everyday life/routine??

I think they are appropriate every day. Well depending on how high the heel is. I'll wear 4 inch heels with jeans and a t shirt just going to the mall.

I used to wear them all the time: to the mall, when going out to eat, to work, to the movies where ever I went I would wear high heels.

I still love the shoes but can't wear them any longer. I've got nerve damage in both my feet from high heel shoes and until I can afford to have surgery, it has to be flats from now on. I always feel sad every time I pass a shoe department now. I miss them so much!

    So....
I was walking down Lexington Ave, between 76th and 78th street i think....and this leggy blonde...strutting her stuff in some Christian Louboutins...these heels had to be a mile high. My gf and I just looked at each other...and plotted how to get the heels off her.

I say..as long as your back is feeling up to it....and depending on the heel height....shoot. do you.

I mean, this chick was STOMPING. it was awesome. I want those heels...

I have the same problem as you. I have all these amazing heels, but I feel silly wearing them just to go to the store or something and I don't really go out much. But I guess as long as you feel good in them, you can wear them wherever you want.

I have a bunch too I have never even worn, or only worn a few times. Same with clothes. I keep them for times when I want to dress up.... Holidays and for going out. That works for me. I like to keep some stuff for "special" nights, and it's a good reason to have them. hehe.

Hm... I think I'll start trying to make it a point to wear them out on special occasions too. Like holiday, dates, dinners, etc. A lot of times I think I'm so used to wearing my regular shoes that I just forget the heels are an option, but this seems like a good way to break them in some more without over doing it.

Paris - That really sucks that they messed up your feet!

Also, where do you guys like to shop for cute/girly casual shoes such as flats, flip flop type wedgey sandals, etc.?? I did an inventory and realized that I def have room to glam up my everyday wear. I've just always hated flats for some reason, but I want to give them a try!

I thought I never wore mine... and cut WAY down on the collection...
Now every time I leave the house... I'm PISSED that I don't have heels that match what I want to wear.

Gosh, I have so many shoes! One of my regulars surprised me with a bunch of shoes for Christmas last year. It's nice to have a variety to choose from, but I'm pretty sure that no casual occasion will ever call for red glitter knee boots.

In all honestly, I wear high heels everyday. If I'm not wearing actual "heels," I'm wearing huge gothic styled platform boots, huge cyber sneakers, or some kind of biker boot with enough sole to lay some tread if I have to. I'm small. Five feet, actually, and I always trip and fall in flat street shoes. They just don't feel right to me. So for me, heels are practical everyday, even in bed.

Even my flip flops have a 2 in. wedged heel or higher. (Demonias). The only time I don't wear heels is when I'm working out or chllin at home or cleaning.

Short story: I was at a store looking at these spike heeled, wrap around ankle strapped shoes, maybe 4 to 5 in. This older lady (senior citizen) had to use a cane to walk. She saw me checking out the shoes. She said to me, ' I use to be able to wear shoes like that. I can't now, but you can and you would like great in them. You buy those shoes girl, and wear them for me.".

I had to admit, this almost made me cry. You better believe I bought those shoes. I wore them a lot

OMG, this is the cuuutest story I've heard all day. I'm definitely going to look for the Demonias. I'm really trying to glam up my wardrobe and be girlier I just sort of need a push in the right direction!Thx for the recommendation.

Heels are always appropriate. Except the beach and gym. LOL. I always joke with one of my GFs because I've known her 2 years now and seriously never ever seen her in flat shoes.

I think it depends on the style of the heel as to whether it works for day wear. Are we talking glitzy, evening wear heels?

I love heeled boots for this reason. All the benefits of heels, but a better for daily wear. And warmer in the winter.
