Thumbs down no energy (<----- even when I am titling threads!)

Hi all, I sincerely hope someone can help me with this - it's fucking me up!
I used to be a ball of energy, I could be up all night. Randomly, I've started experiencing a lot of fatigue. I know it could be due to a lot of things, as I:
    - am weaning myself off of a beastly adderall addiction
    - recently started prozac, which I guess can cause fatigue
    - have a history of severe anxiety and depression, and both are kinda bad right now
    - occasionally experience sleepless nights despite being exhausted

Yes, I have fucked up my body royally and it blows. I make no money when I'm like this! So, I went to the doctor and got tested for a ton of things (diabetes, hyperthyroidism) - all negative. I do have a low white blood cell count, but I've always had that.

So, what could it be? And, more importantly, what can I do? (Caffeine doesn't work anymore, btw. Not after adderall boo) I'm thinking of asking for provigil/nuvigil and/or wellbutrin (instead of the prozac). I would only take the pro/nu on work nights, so I wouldn't get addicted...as tends to happen with me. Yes? No?

The doctors have failed me, so, I know if anyone can help me, it's going to be SW!

I'm having a similar problem (but I've never been on adderall, and I'm not depressed or anything).

It's kind of like a brain fog for me. But I've been eating a low sugar diet lately, so I suspect my brain fog might be caused by low blood sugar.

But I'm interested to hear others' responses!

Did you doc check your B12 levels? Low B12 causes fatigue and is a very common undiagnosed issue. My doc found mine was dangerously low and I started on 1000mcg of B12 a day in tablet form. Luckily I was able to absorb it that way (I obviously wasn't absorbing it in my food). Some people have to have B12 injections. I worked with a girl who had this and she was a crazy ball of energy for 2 days afterwards.

    RELAX- you have not fucked up your body;

Amphetamines cause low to no long term damage on the body.
with Adderall its best to go cold turkey; the "buzz" with that withdrawal process is that you sleep all the time for the first four days and you'll be depressed and low energy for up to 2 weeks, then it's over. The weight gain will start after that.

Prozac: causes you to sleep a lot; there's nothing you can do about that; you should know it will cause anxiety and panic attacks, ask your doctor for Ativan this is prescribed with Prozac often.

Its the adderrall and prozac. I was on Prozac for about 3 months until my depression subsided. And I became completely lethargic, slept forever, had no energy, and no interests.

Then, adderral exhausts the adrenal glands, it takes a really long time to recover. I go on and off of it. I think it takes at least 2 months to recover, but everyone is different.

I would try a healthy diet and multivitamin. Also, try working out even though it seem counterintuitive when you have 0 energy, you will feel better afterward and have a lot more energy-- I promise.

Also, like was previously mentioned get a B12 supplement.

You might want to try taking some Vitamin D-3. I would sleep all winter if I didn't take that supplement.

Oh, and you can buy provigil (Modafinil) online. It's spendy, but you don't need a prescription.

i would try some megadoses of vitamin d3 (30,000 IU or so). if you can't get 4000-5000 iu pills locally, you should be able to find them online, or just take dozen 1000 iu pills (very easy to find in most grocery stores, and definitely whole foods/etc) 2-3 times per day for 3-4 days. this is usually used for people with viral infections, but it is safe and should help give you some energy.

also try fish oil (the liquid oil). that helps some people find energy when they've lost it.

hello-kitty: so true! It feels like legal speed. I understand that it helps some people, but WOW! I am weaning myself off, and it is hell.

Thanks for your input, all! I think it was def the prozac (thanks KiwiStrawberry Splenda!), so I've started weaning myself off of that, also. I'm on wellbutrin now, which should give me lotsa energy. Fingers crossed.

Also, I've been taking b vitamins and vit. D for the past few months or so, but maybe the absorption rate is low? Or maybe I haven't been on them long enough? Oh well, I'll keep at it!

    I just wanted to clarify for people reading this who actually have an ADHD diagnosis;
Adderall is not speed or legal speed; people who take it recreationally like to say this.

It took hearing this ten to twenty times for me to research this and here is a useful analogy; you would have to take 100 times your daily prescribed dosage of Adderall to equal one episode of smoking speed. Saying Adderall is legalized speed is like saying
    a latte is legalized cocaine.

Adderall is a brand-name psychostimulant medication composed of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, which is thought to work by increasing the amount of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain.[1] Adderall is widely reported to increase alertness, libido, concentration and overall cognitive performance while decreasing user fatigue.
Methamphetamine (pronounced /ˌmɛθæmˈfɛtəmiːn/ listen) also known as metamfetamine (INN), dextromethamphetamine, methylamphetamine, N-methylamphetamine, and desoxyephedrine) is a psychostimulant and sympathomimetic drug. Methamphetamine enters the brain and triggers a cascading release of dopamine and norepinephrine
They are just one molecule apart. People also abuse Adderall quite a bit.
However, if taken in proper doses, its very effective for ADHD, narcolepsy, CFS, etc...

The best thing to do with adderall is to wean yourself off of it whenever you get a chance..on the weekends, if taking a holiday, etc..whenever you can function without it.

Also, if you aren't using extended release, take half of the recommended dosage, you can always take more later.

Adrenal support vitamins (basically B and D complex) can also be helpful.

But yeah, it kind of is legal speed, and I understand that those of us one it do not want the associated stigma.

I've tried illegal speed about 3 times, and its never gotten me high at all. Since I didn't like the feeling of it, I didn't do very much. Its the same with Adderall. I don't enjoy the side effects at all..sweatiness, dry mouth, ick. So I take the minimum. However, I do have a friend who buys them off of my occasionally for when she goes out nighclubbing. She prefers them to cocaine, her previous drug of choice, because its a clean high and no hangover.

I don't think it takes that much Add. to mimic the feeling of meth-Amph. though. Guess it depends on the strength of the meth?

That's right. If it were legal speed no one would ever sleep when taking it in correct doses.

A lot of speed freaks can actually normalize and sleep while doing speed all day - maybe not shooting up, but definitely while smoking and snorting.

Adderall is really close in the way that it has the same effects.

When I tried speed, I was able to focus really well on things that normally wouldn't keep me interested. Focus on the level of doing repretitve things for hours at a time. Adderall is more predictable but close enough.

I don't want to get into anything about it being speed or if it's legit, but it's not totally different either. I've seen a lot of negative consequences from it even when the person taking it couldn't see anything wrong.

And regarding the initial post, it will mess you up for a while. Just give it time. Prozac is probably compounding everything.

Where are you in your cycle? My and my home girl were just talking about how we absolutely cannot work the week before our periods. We're tired and unapproachable and it's pretty much worthless to waste our time coming in during that week. So sometimes when you feel super tired, even for a couple weeks, it could fade in the next few weeks when you start your period and get all aggressive and then ovulate and get all positive and horny.

I used to do coke and it didn't screw with me too bad I think...I thought I was going to be depressed and anxious forever too but for me, it fades when I make myself busier. But not busier with work! Busy with neat things outside of stripper land. Even though it's hard to drag myself out of bed and keep my commitments, I end up being too busy to zone in on whats wrong with my life.
