There are a lot of different types of "ass clapping".. but generally it's by rotating your thighs in opposite directions. I realize that sounds odd, but it's the best way I can think to describe it. You need at least some muscle to be able to do it, and you also need to have an ass in the first place.

I suppose this is a decent enough instructional video on how to get it done, unless you're talking about doing it with "straight" legs. In that case, Pretty_Penny is correct, you've got to be able to rotate your hips to get your ass cheeks to touch.

Yay this is my specialty!! I was 1st taught the "there's no place like home" method. Stand on the balls of your feet, with your legs apart some, and like dorothy in the wizard of oz make the motion like your clicking your heels together really fast. Then when you get the feel for the motion put your heels down and keep your thighs moving the same way. It takes some work, but this way you will feel how your booty is supposed to be moving. You don't need a big booty to do it. If you have a small butt it will do more of a little bouncy shake which is cute.

Hold on.... were you talking about the motion making it clap or actually making it make a clapping noise? for the noise you have to bounce it a certain way. I cant actually make noise unless i shake and bounce really hard or when i'm in the air. heres a good video.

FTR: what I described was how to do it -without- moving your ankles/lower legs, like kimbre said. Meaning, not by clicking your heals together. I think that's how most people start doing it, I did, until you learn how to rotate your thighs.


Have you ever put your hands palm down on a table in front of yourself (while standing) and rotated your elbows without moving your hands? Just do the same things with your legs. Your feet shouldn't move, stick your butt out a little, stand with legs shoulder length apart, and just rotate your thighs. if you have a little booty you might have to rotate your thighs faster. Also try not to tighten your ass muscles, leave them relaxed to "jiggle". This is how i learned (w/ the elbow comparison), funny.

Yup, this is exactly how I teach them and we even call them "Dorothys". Truly take your time getting used to this motion and go slow. Trying to do it fast right off the bat is too hard- you need to get the feel of direction of your ankles, knees and thighs first before you speed it up.

This girl shows how to do what she calls "the wiggle" it's kinda like what everyone is saying about rotating your thighs.
