Default How to get a LIGHT tan?

I'm pale. Not ghostly pale, but lighter than fair. I've been told that after I start saving up a few bucks, I will need a tan.

Thing is, I have a dominant NorthEastern European heritage. I DO NOT suntan. I burn, and after the red goes away, I'm back to my original color.

My big sis used to be a dancer and had the same issue (natural redhead). She told me to go to tanning salons and get spray tans done along with sitting in a tanning bed for awhile. I never really noticed her skin tone and honestly cannot remember how tan she ever could have been.

I know I would not look good with a dark or even a medium tan, but I think I do agree - if anything, I need a tan just to even out my skintone.

Is there a way to get a fake tan and not have it look super dark and obvious??

yep. loreal sublime glow is the bomb. looks like this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BkO1fat72j...blime+glow.jpg i would get the one for medium skin tones even if you are pale. i use this when i am too lazy to mess with the real self tanners. apply it like a moisturizer... it helps build a gradual tan and gives a nice tone. it smells really pretty too and is kinda shimmery so it makes your skin look good under the lights. and it is also not greasy... i have never had a problem applying this a couple of hrs before work and doing pole tricks-- it doesnt seem to make the pole greasy.

just make sure that you wash your hands after you apply it or you will end up with wierd dark spots between your fingers.

if you want something a bit faster, there is also a faster sublime bronze gradual tan: looks like this: http://media.well.ca/images/large/pr...309111_LRG.jpg this has more dha (active ingredient in it) so it will work faster. however, this one is greasier-- so dont apply it before work.

and the sublime bronze regular tanner is also pretty nice- it doesnt go orange.

there are also jergens gradual tan moisturizer. I dont like the smell of it, although the one iwth the firming lotion in it makes your skin feel fabulous. And there is a jergens natural tan express, which smells better, but there is hardly any lotion in the bottle!

And i will ALWAYS recomment sunlabs. Best fake tan i have ever used.. whenever i use it people think i lay under real tanning beds. Smells good. lots of threads on here on it. Only downside is it takes more effort to apply. I use the dark sunsation one, but they have a medium one (ultra dark) and a light one (tan overnight) so you can get a lighter tan too.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

You can get a spray tan, but go somewhere where a person does it. (not a machine). Ask for a light natural looking shade. Easy. Oh and DO NOT USE A TANNING BED... cancer anyone? Seriously it is not worth it.

Trust me I really don't want to, Dancersrights. But as I said if anything I need something to even my skintone throughout my body. My legs are half-flesh colored, half deathly pale, and my midsection is very pale, and let's not talk about my ass. Plus I do have some stretch marks from past weight gain that I want to hide while I use cocoa butter to try and dull them down.

I picked up some of the Jergens Firming Gradual Tan for Medium skin. Took forever to hunt it down too; everyone else had medium/dark or dark. I couldn't find any of the L'Oreal any lighter than dark skin.

You can always dilute the formula if this is all that's available. Just mix some of the tanning lotion with a regular lotion in another container (1/2 and 1/2 or whatever dilution works best for you.

im surprised... ive never seen any Loreal for anything but medium skin, and occasionally for fair skin. Things must be different in your neck of the woods! Maybe its cuz im in Ohio, and there is no sun and people are so pale that there is no need to be super dark. wierd.

st tropez bronzing mousse is good for a light tan, really easy to apply and non-sticky. I have reeeeally pale skin (i can pass for goth if i wear too much black with no tan, plus i have long reeally dark hair.) but one coat of this will take the edge off very pale skin. I use like two/three coats plus wash on/wash off aswell though. Another good one is xen tan light, one bottle lasts ages and its moisturising and smells like marzipan

Id never sunbed, they cause sooo much damage, and long term its not worth it, I dont even sit in the sun unless im under some kind of covering and i have suncream on (I live in England so its ok, as we have maybe two (three tops) sunny/warm days per year.) My philosophy is 'i paid for my tan, I will not ruin it by getting a real one' hehe
