Default Whats up in Portland OR?

I have been thinking of dancing a lot lately, mainly because I could really use the money. But I feel sooo out of the loop. So what's happening? What are the rules nowa days? Contact, etc? Seems like they where really up in the air when I visited last.

There are a ton of new clubs, like Spyce that I know nothing about.

Is it worth going back right now?

Guess I am just generally wondering what's up in the industry? Any info appreciated.

    Thanks to anyone who responds.

nothing has changed in the last two years except the economy. If you want to come back to dancing expect the same except less customers but if you were a good hustler I would not worry about a thing. Stars has a new club in the bridgeport shopping area and I would imagine that there is the money.

That might be because you worked at casa*shudder*. No judgement, I did too when they first opened. Not sure if you were around to see it, but that place went waaayyy downhill.

As for contact- the OLCC no longer regulates dancers. Technically I believe actual lap dances are legal now, but many if not most places haven't changed their set up and it's still pretty much air dances.

Economy sucks. Be prepared to make less money. Harder to get night shifts from what I hear.

    Thank you guys.

I prefer the old school rules, which was one of the reasons that I quit going to clubs. Didn't realize most of the other clubs weren't doing lap dances. I thought they all where. Nothing against lap dancing, I just can't do it myself. Couch dances I am fine with (like at D clubs)

Think at this point I'd be more likely to go for a smaller club, day shifts.

    Again, thank you

Isn't only just air dances in places that serve alcohol? Does anyone know how dances are legally in dry clubs/juice bars/18+ places?

No the oregon liquor control commission does not regulate exotic dancers anymore. Actually no govenment agency in oregon can regulate oregon exotic dancers any longer unless of course prostitution is occuring. So, now we have actual real lap dances occuring in alot of the 21 and over clubs. Its up to the particular club to set its own standards and rules on the dances. Some of them are still just air-dancing though.

The only club I'd recommend for consistent money is 205. There's a new one that opened up across the street from it, Mystic I think?? It's where the old hooters used to be. Try that maybe?

Dolphin 2 is easy to get shifts at last time I checked and you really don't have to schedule if you get on the manager's good side.

I'm thinking of heading to Portland myself for a little business trip to check out the new clubs.

Thank you. Yeah, I have visited 205 when I was younger and thinner. I am pretty sure they wouldn't hire me now. I'm not fat, but I'm not exactly thin either (5'7", sz 10/12).

Last I visited D2 they where booking 35 gals on night shifts and around 15 on days, that coupled with the high stage fees/tip outs I would imagine it's difficult to make any real money

If you do head here, and you get a chance, please do come back to this thread and update us on what you think

I'm working night shifts in a small, neighborhood, low contact club, with minimal stage fees (no VIP). I have a good group of regulars and I'm a decent hustler, but I'm only averaging about $150-$175 per shift. I really miss $400-$500 nights.

If you're just looking for extra money, it might be worth coming back and working mids.

PS - if you don't like high contact clubs (the ones who came along after the laws changed)... Steer clear of Spyce & Rouge downtown. There's money in those clubs, but for me it wasn't worth it.

I'm still on the fence about it. I am starting to think that I am not a spring chicken anymore.

i want to come out to visit Portland because its a place i'm considering moving to after i quit dancing. so i don't plan on dancing out there for any extended time, but i would probably want to dance just to make some money while visiting.

are there any gown clubs? what would you girls consider like the two or three "best" clubs in portland? ("best" being like hottest girls, customers w/money, pretty decor and good DR)

I don't know if I'd classify these as gown clubs, but Dolphin 2, Stars and Club 205 where the nicer clubs. D2 being the biggest and in my opinion nicest looking. 205 has the highest hiring standards. Stars being the only club that has requirements for gowns (or did)

I always loved D2 for the "couch dances" but they used to schedule a lot of gals a night, if you can hustle that shouldn't matter that much.

There are new clubs now that I have never been to, but I am sure others will chime in with more updated information, but those where always the nicer clubs when I was actively dancing.

That was the last club I went to in Portland.

I liked it a lot and I liked Johnny (though I hear many don't) but the contact was a bit much for me and it was the only club I ever had someone steal from me at.

What do you consider high contact? Everyone seems to have a different idea. For instance, I consider it high contact if the customer can touch me anywhere other than my waist and arms. Before I came to San Diego, I considered high contact to be the customer touching me AT ALL.

(And there are many customers who consider it an "air dance" even if I'm grinding if he can't grope my no-no areas.) For the record, I'm ok with one-way contact, but I'm not ok with guys touching me.

I'm considering moving to Portland in a year or so for personal reasons, and like to know what I'll be committing to in order to make a decent living.

Far as I know, the custies are not (technically) allowed to touch you, but I am not dancing and therefor am no expert.

When I say high contact, I mean grinding. I have seen fully nude grinding here. Also, I don't want to work somewhere that vag stimulation/penetration is allowed (with toys or fingers or otherwise), though I have heard mixed reviews as to whether that is legal or not, I have seen girls touching their genitals on stage and can only imagine what happens in the private areas.

I also know "extras" take place in some places.

I would be delighted to work at a topless club (and if there where a topless club, I'd probably be ok with a bit more contact), but that ain't happenin here, ha ha

Portland is uber casual anyway, so I doubt you would recognize our high end clubs as being high end when compared to New York or Las Vegas. This tends to throw people off at first when they visit Portland, but it is a wonderful city to relax and enjoy a slower and more casual pace.

Thank you for answering my questions. The term "high contact" just worries the hell out of me. Even if it makes me a bad SW'er, I'm fine with grinding as long as I'm not straddling the guy. I'm NOT, however, ok with grinding without my thong on.....

yes this is a main selling point for me in moving there after dancing. i just want to go out so i can see if it really is a possible future home for me or if there's something i wouldn't like.

and ya its just topless here in nyc, and before that i danced bikini. i feel so safe and secure with my thong on. contact doesn't really bother me, but i just can't be fully nude. at least not unless its for a lot of money.

if i lived somewhere where nude was the norm, i'm sure i would do it, i'm not putting it down. maybe once i'm at a club i'll decide to do it. or maybe i just won't dance when i visit either.
