Lightbulb Stage Name ideas from a Newbie

If this belongs on a different thread my bad! I just joined.

I've gone by Firewall on many online endeavors, but I'm afraid it's too extreme, too technical and not sexy enough for a stage name.

If appearance helps I'm a mix of Creole, White and whatever my dad is (he doesn't know his race), relatively tan, have medium brown hair and blue eyes.

These have been coming up in my mind a lot:

    Firewall ( my long-time nickname )

    Pepper ( Maybe it's too sneeze-provoking? )

    Cocoa ( I like this one a lot since I'm tan. )

Bambi ( too cute not to mention )

Any advice? I would have a charming, friendly demeanor and be seductive, not too cute and not too bitchy.

I'm not being mean, but those are all fairly overdone.

What about a name that means fire? Like Anala, Candace, McCay? I like Anala a lot. Though admittedly the first name that popped into my head was Fiona.

Aw really? I thought Cocoa was pretty down to earth and natural sounding, but I knew Firewall was pretty out there, and it doesn't sound the best when I think of someone calling me that as an actual name.

It's funny you guys mentioned Fiona - my Mom has always loved that name, not sure what she would think if that was MY stage name

Thanks for all the ideas! Keep them coming.

Every club I have ever worked at has a Coco. What about Courtney? My best Austin work friend was named Willow, I liked that.

Basically, you'll get more positive feed back from customers if you have a realistic name. I posted awhile back about dancing as Veronica, and then being like "But you can call me Ronnie." with a wink. They think they're in your secret club after that.

^ Willow has always given me a picture of something older, graceful maybe, but kind of in a 'withering, swaying tree' sort of way.

I know a few Courtney's that I'm not too fond of.

My Mom would definitely go for Fiona. Although I feel as though I'm too young and cutsey looking to pick a 'mature' or 'realistic' name. I'm 18 and definitely do not want to start out pretending to be a pro at this.

Regardless of your status as a dancer, starting off with a good believeable name is huge selling point, and less aggravation.

If you wanted something cute and perky, what about Joy? Or Kylee, Danielle, or Shayna?

What about Taylor? Lots of girls on here like the cutesy-boyish names, and names like that go over well with a lot of guys I know.

Not Bambi. It's sweet, but SO overdone.

Yeah, I've always liked the idea of boyish names too.

I should probably start with something either boyish or cute since I'm so new. If I try something overly sexual or too mature sounding it'll quickly be shown that I'm NOT if I mess up! hah

Once I do get to that point I've been thinking about Mary. That way I can still be a good girl and deliciously ironc as well.

I like Pepper, It's nice to have a name that is also kind of an icebreaker IMO.
I really, really like the name Riley, though.

It's always best to stay the hell away from the overused names. I can't think of a SINGLE club I worked in where we didn't have a Coco(a), Bambi, and I have indeed worked with a Pepper.

I've worked with some pretty asinine ones, myself though. Velvet was the worst. lol (No offense intended to anyone here who uses it ... but it was NOT the right name for me. )

I've worked with some really unique girls. Presley was cute. I love the "boyish" sounding names - Payton, Kyle, etc. My roommate danced as Ever, which was beautiful. I also am a big fan of the "normal" sounding names - plus, it staves off the annoying "Is that your REAL name?" questions. Heidi, Melinda, Stephanie ... things like that. Best of luck to you!

Thanks, I think it's cute too! Riley wouldn't be bad, except for it's the name of my cousins dog, and the name of my cousin-in-laws infant baby boy. Hah! I would hope she never found out if I used it

    @ MissMynxx

Yeah, I definitely knew Bambi was an overused one, that's why I didn't even mention Candy or something like that, hah! Pepper doesn't seem too common...however cute it is, something about it just isn't SEXY, you know? hehe

Thanks ladies for the input! My husband could care less, so i definitely don't get ANY help from him in choosing my name

Cocoa is actually the second most awful name ever, trailing closely behind Mocha.

    Pepper might be cute.

^ Mocha sounded too cofee-ey to me, more like an ingredient rather than a name, but I think Cocoa is a cute name on stage or otheriwse

Yeah, again Pepper is way cute, but it's not appealing to the senses, or very sexual, for that matter, I don't even like pepper!

My dog's name is Pepper. I picked it because it sounded stripperish.

When picking a name try to find one that your customers can easily understand and remember. If the name sounds too exotic to the customers you'll be dancing for, they won't be able to remember well and may confuse you with another girls with a name that is similar but easier to remember. I worked with a girl named Onya and another dancer went by Anna. Anna was the only name the customers could remember.

Also keep in mind that soft sounding names like Anna are difficult to understand from the DJ as well as when introducing yourself to the customer when the music is blasting. You may wish to go with Mandy instead of Amanda because it is easier to hear it pronounced when spoken in a loud atmosphere.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

^ Hehe, I may try Pepper, although I don't have much of a backstory for why I picked that, so I'm not sure how I would make it a conversation piece. I know realistic names are good for rememberence and getting them off your back about your real name, I don't think I'd care about the interrogation as much as someone else.

That and I don't have a 'realistic' name that I'd like better than my own name. Not that I'd use my real name on stage, but I wanted to go for something cute and a little made up. Ugh this is hard! Good thing you can always change it!

Thanks for the advice, Paris! I will definitely choose something easy to pronounce and remember!

I assume by your eye-rolling you were offended by my calling it a horrible name... It's probably stupid... but I used to work with a non-caucasian girl who kept calling me "Snow" and telling me that I should change my stripper name to that... the way she said it and I found it racist and offensive. I just don't like names that are related to skin color. And normally the people who pick names like Mocha or Cocoa say they chose them for that reason.

Whoops, i thought the little eyes looking up was an innocent looking 'oh well' face! No offence meant, and I don't mind the negative opinion, trying to see what everyone likes. I am relatively tan, but I wouldn't pick cocoa for that reason.

    Keep the advice coming!
