Maybe you should just use blogspot or something instead, since you like to write anyway. You can post pictures, media, blurbs about yourself and what you do in your spare time, and your camming schedule, etc. there. I know Facebook can be quite revealing, based on how people are "located" on it, but if you had a blog somewhere and just wrote cute stuff for customers, and things like that, they'd be able to comment on what you write, etc. and maybe even let you know when they're planning to see you again, while you maintain a little more privacy.
MySpace IS kinda old news as far as self-promotion goes. Just because application spam and younger people have kind of taken over and made it a sort of... wasteland for networking. The thing that you might like is that you can keep your anonymity a little better there, but you may also get lost in the shuffle because there's so many pages of crap for people to sift through, that just getting them to you, and then getting them to spend time on your page, is going to be a task in itself.
Most people really do use either Twitter or Facebook. I don't see why you couldn't just make a fake email account and have it redirected to your actual email account, and use THAT to set up your webcam persona Facebook page?
*(I do this with a GMAIL account - the gmail is the account i don't care about, and all my mail to that account magically shows up in my REAL inbox too. Just be careful you don't reply to any private messages from your REAL account, and you'll be fine!) By the way, doing this gives you a chance to screen your mail as it comes in, before you respond to it.
There are ways to go about doing things without giving up too much of your personal info. Maybe don't post a bunch of pictures or media of you on it, limit it to customers only, and make it so you can't be searched for on Facebook. ***The other thing to keep in mind here is that, customers may want to maintain
their privacy as well. In most cases it's probably not a big deal, but don't expect to have a lot of friends on MySpace or other social networking sites. You're a fantasy, these guys have girlfriends/boyfriends (possibly?), wives and families they've got to worry about.
Basically, all you're doing with a social networking site, as a web model is just letting people know that you're available, and that if they're interested, they can find you at X location during Y time period or whatever. Don't get discouraged because you're not getting people to add you. Your only concern should be for getting people to view and spend time on your page if you're using it to promote yourself, or your services.
If you'd like to get more information about how to work self promotion or affiliate stuff, just do an Internet search for affiliate advertising or affiliate marketing, and follow the guidelines on how to get it started. It's basically the same thing - generating traffic from one site to another, right?

(...Apparently this affiliate shit is where the money's at, because Streamate, and other high traffic cam sites have TONS of affiliates promoting them... That's something
else to think about, too.) $$$
Also, if you're going to use one of these social networking kind of pages, make sure you're keeping it up to date, customers WILL appreciate fresh info or commentary, and it'll let them know that you've not fallen off the face of the earth.
Good luck.
