    Default Home highlights?

This may be a mistake, but I was considering home highlights to sort of blend my roots.

I've never had them done. But I was considering trying the kit with the cap where you pull out pieces.

Then I was thinking, well, if I did it again how would I find the same pieces and I'd be in the same spot. Not able to stop dying my hair. It takes years for me to go back natural, nothing ever matches.

Has anyone tried it, or have any advice?

I've done the "platinum blond" aka Orange experiment more than once believe it or not, so I'm pretty optimistic. But I just don't want another fiasco right now.

I used to do my highlights at home with the little cap. If your highlights are more blended than streaky, this should work just fine. However, if you are doing this by yourself, it is a big pain in the ass. It used to take me like an hour just to pull all the little strands out. (I had to sit between two mirrors to pull the hair out of the back of the cap). They always came out looking good though. Now, I would rather pay to have somebody else do it. Its easier and even though highlights at home can look good, the ones done at the salon always look better.
