Default quick Q for those with an iud

i've had mirena since august. i LOVE it!

i had some cramping for the first month or so, but that went away, and so did my periods! yay!

however, the past two weeks, i've had pretty bad cramps. it's not there all the time, but i'd say i get cramps every day. they feel like menstrual cramps, from mild to pretty damn painful.

do you ladies think this is normal? or do you think the cramps at this point probably mean that it is out of place? i know i should probably just call my gyno, but i hate goin there lol so if anyone has any experience with this or info, lemme know

    See my response here: http://forum.stripperweb.com/showthread.php?t=137436

I had the Mirena for 2.5 years before I had to have it remove because I'm hormone-sensitive and I was beginning to show signs of hormone reactions (breast pain and tenderness, constant cramps, bloating)

It took me about 3 months for my body to adjust to the Mirena. My periods lightened considerably but didn't go away because I typically have a very heavy flow. Cramps also dulled, but I always had them.

Your body could be still getting used to the device. I know that I always had dull cramping around ovulation and the start of my period with my Mirena. Remember, this is a foreign object that has been placed into your uterus, and your uterus is an incontrollable muscle - it relaxes and contracts all on its own, just like your stomach does. Give it a few more months.

I love the IUD but personally I wasn't a fan of the Mirena just because of my experience because I am sensitive to hormones. The hormone reaction especially turned me away from it but I also experienced weight gain - I gained 15 lbs in 6 months. Not a lot compared to other Birth controls, but it was 15 that I couldn't lose until I had it removed. I'm going back in a week and having the Copper-T (Paraguard) installed.

If you have any other specific questions, let me know, or read up on that other thread I posted in.
