Default Restarting the Weight Loss/Healthy Eating Thread!

A while back we had an awesome weight loss/healthy eating thread, and I know it was a huge help for me. I wanted to bring it back, because I certainly could use a kick in the ass.

Every week, people would post their progress (either weight, measurements, or pics), use the thread to find tips, rant about plateus, or to post in moments of weakness (i.e. whenever I considered eating Ben & Jerry's).

    I'll start!

I'm too ashamed to post my weight, but I would like to lose 30 lbs. That's not a hard-stop number, but I do want to be smaller/healthier. Since I've been working full-time and going to school full-time, I've just been eating like crap and not moving. I'm finally done school, so I'll have lots more time to cook and go to the gym.

I'm cutting out the junk (my soda-addiction), incorporating more healthy foods like lean protein and beggies, and doing a good mix of cardio/weights.

Ok, I whooped my own ass at the gym two days ago. I did one hour of cardio with the incline up to 15 (max) and a speed alternating between 3.3 and 4.0 mph. I burned close to 900 calories in an hour and a distance of around 4 miles. I then did the seated leg press, 165 lbs, 100 reps. I then did obliques and crunches incorporating a ten lb weight. I then finished with half an hour of easy cardio. I woke up the next morning almost unable to move. I loved it though, the incline on the treadmill really makes your entire body hot, I felt like my body was a fat burning furnace at the end of the hour!

JD if you ever get a chance, get blood lactate and vo2 tested. This will pinpoint your aerobic threshold, which lets you basically target your ideal fat burning heart rate so you can effectively stay in your fat burning zone. More info at http://physicalprep.ca/fitness-train...-analysis.html

    Great idea!

Ive been working hard to feel healthier and get more defined muscles. I was doing awesome and working out hard 6 days a week and feeling fabulous, then finals week hit and ive only gone to the gym once this week. . hopefully next week i will have some positive news.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Such a great idea!! I posted pics of my progress right after I had Ethan and it was a HUGE incentive! I don't really need to lose weight atm, just shape up, so I'm game. After being sick for like a year, I'm embarassingly untoned! Now that I'm finally feeling like myself I wanna get back to my normal gym rat self. hehe

If you'll let guys in, I'll play.

I topped out at 259 lbs earlier this year. I started a slow weight loss program back in the spring and about a month ago started a casual South Beach diet. I'm doing ok so far, not going all out but so far so good. I'm also exercising 4-5 nights a week, mostly basketball and elliptical machine.

    I'm down to 233...that's a 10% weight loss....kind of proud of that.

    My goals....

230 lbs by the beginning of the new year
220 lbs before I evaluate myself again. I might stop there or I might go for 210. I consider the 210-220 range to be my optimal weight.

Next part of the program is to start lifting weights a little. Build muscle to make it easier to keep the metabolism up.

Mr. Hyde - great job! 10% is a big deal!

    Alright...about me.

Looking to lose about 30 lbs. total, but I'm settling for about 10 at a time. Went to the gym today, hated it as always, but I feel better about myself now that I've gone. 50 Squats and 50 lunges + 45 minutes of cardio....I'm trying to do this daily, but am averaging out at 5 or 6 times a week. My eating has improved (lots of salads and fish, which I love), but tonight I 'treated' myself to a Lean Cuisine and a can of diet soda as it's finals week and I've been working really hard to study and go to the gym, too. It was delicious and I'm very proud of myself.

Last February I weighed in over 200 lbs, right now I'm about 165. Just keeping on working at it....

    :S I went from 155 lbs to 138 from 1) Growing 2 inches, 2) I just wasn't hungry anymore.
I usually love to eat and go on binges CONSTANTLY, but I just stopped eating so much food, literally, and my body weight dropped like *that*. Then after I lost it, I started doing some gym workouts to tone it up.

Now I'm gonna do pilates 3 days a week, and boxing 2 days a week. Weekend is my break from exercise, lol.

I will play too, I need a little motivation.

205 this morning, would love to get to 195 but will take >200. I did 50 min on tread mill Mon night at max incline and lifted yesterday morning. X-mas shopping last night and was to tired after working all day and shopping to walk and slept in and didn't lift this morning.

Here is the big problem, office party today. Basically eating all day at work then going to a club tonight. I will try to have some will power but that usually goes ot the window with a big spread od holiday food.

I'm in. I currently weigh in 129. I want to get back to aroun 100-110. I'm comforatable there. I am eating veggies as my snacks now instead of chips like usual. I'm trying to cut them out completely. I love veggies anyways. Way more than fruit. Nothing against fruit but I'm not allergic to any of the tasty veggies. I will start with my work out in a few. If i had something to measure myself is I would but currently that is packed up somewhere.

This is a gret idea. ^_^

    I'll post pics later.

    Great thread!

I'm 5'4'' probably 115-120 atm. My scale ran out of batteries and i'm leaving it that way for now
I'd like to lose 10lbs, healthily though. if i lose 10lbs but put on 5lbs of lean muscle i'd behappy.
basically, i want to lose the little pudge i've gained in the past year, tighten up, tone up. my abs and my ass are my focus...i need more booty meat! so- squats, lunges, donkey kicks, every day!

I'm not intentionally trying to lose weight but I am eating healthy and loving it! I just got home from work and I am eating celery and cauliflower in home made tzatziki right now! mmmmmm. Since cutting out alcohol, caffeine, sugar, flour, and most dairy 2 weeks ago I feel amazing! My skin is glowing and I am make $200-$300 more per night at work! It's freaking awesome. Every now and then I am getting the urge to eat a cookie (my fav), but I don't want this feeling to end so I haven't cracked. In the first week I went from 123Ilbs to 116Ilbs, but didn't lose anything in the 2nd week. I don't actually want to lose anymore weight, so hopefully I won't. I've cut back on my gym sessions so I don't lose too much.

Hummus worked well for me when I wanted to keep up my cals back years ago! It's super duper yummy if you blend in some roasted red peppers too! Yummers! Oh, almond butter from a natural food store is also a fav! Dang, I need to make a trip to the grocery! hehe

In September I started running every other day or every other two days at the very least, but then it got real cold real quick, and eventually we had a big dump of snow so that put a stop to my running.

I'm not a gym member, because frankly, I know I don't have the discipline to use it to it's worth, and imho I think their prices are ridiculous. I also don't like the inconvenience of having to drive somewhere to work out--I like the instant gratification of stepping out my door and just running.

So, for Christmas, I asked my BF for a xpole, and I plan on getting serious about it. I'm pretty excited about it. It arrived in the mail the other day, but he says I can't have it until Christmas.

I don't need to lose weight, but I want to. I'd like to get back down to my modelling weight. If I cut back the boozing and maybe go to the gym twice a week, it wont take me very long. I hate sweets.

I need to get back on tract today after 2 days of uncontrolled eating in my office (Wed was party and yesterday was leftovers). I didn't do to bad at the club Wed night though, 2 Captaion n Cokes and one MGD 64 (they ran outa Captain, URRR), I did have a delicious new ACID Cold Infused Tea cigar but it was an early night and even slept well. I eat good today (just had orange for breakfast) and hit the treadmill tonight. I will lift hard tomorrow.

I'm aiming to lose 30 pounds 10 pounds at a time. Doing yoga 5 days a week and kickboxing twice a week for an hour. Reducing calorie intake to 1500 - 1700 a day. I think I can do this by Valentines Day.

I always gain weight when I get sick for whatever reason.
Been half-dead for about a week or so... so I've jumped from 115 to 123.

It should only take a week or so after I stop being nearly dead to get back down to the 115... But I'd like to lose another 10 pounds from there at least.

Me either, especially since I'm only 5'4''. I'll get there though, I'm pretty sure.
