    Default A warning

Apparently counterfeiting has been increasing in the last few months. Keep an eye out on what you are getting.

not all of them. only if the paper the fake bill was made out of was one that would glow under the black light. people have various ways of producing fake money, not all are alike. its better to look for signs that a bill is real (which will be true of all real bills) than look for signs that its fake (since they will only be true of a subset of fake bills).

The way I tell if a bill is real, hold it up to the light and on one side about 1/4 down the bill there should be a blackish strip imprinted in the bill. i do this with my hundreds if they look suspicious... not usually with the small bills though. This is one of the most surefire ways to tell as it is VERY hard for counterfeiters to duplicate this feature (they would need the specialized equipment to do it) .

also, there are pens you can by to mark the bills that will only show up on real bills (you know when you see those bills that are marked with marker? this is usually why). i suppose if you were paranoid you could throw one in your purse and check the bigger bills.

also... just found this and i didnt know this before:
For a real bill: Hold the bill up to a black light. If authentic, the Security Strip in the bills will glow: $5 bill glows blue; the $10 bill glows orange, the $20 bill glows green, the $50 bill glows yellow, and the $100 bill glows red. I havent tried this yet... will have to in the future! Im assuming it has to be close under the black light though as you dont see bills with glowing strips in the regular black lights in the clubs.
got it from this site: http://www.wikihow.com/Detect-Counterfeit-US-Money all sorts of interesting ways.

The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Thanks for the warning! I saw about how to tell if a $100.00 is real, but, isn't it far more likely to run into a fake $10.00 or $20.00? I also heard some of those pens don't work on all the fakes..

Some counterfitters have taken to bleaching $5.00 bills and then printing twenties or hundreds on them. Those will pass the pen test every time as they are made with US Treasury paper. To tell, hold a bill up to the light. If the President printed on the bill and the watermark are the same POTUS, then the bill is most likely good. Otherwise, if you see Abe's watermark and some other POTUS printed, it's definitely a fake.
