Has anyone finished/attepted to make their own dancewear? I really want to cut costs and have something unique as far as what I wear....any sugestions or patterns? Also everything I own in my "club bag" is made so cheaply but costs a lot. Thx girls

I make my own clothes. I adapted patterns from stuff i already had. the beauty of Lycra is that it is very forgiving if you are a bit off with the size or shape as it will stretch and hide the mistake, you also don't need to worry about raw edges fraying or hems.
The other thing you can do is sewn sequins and trims to an ordinary el cheapo outfit to make it look more expensive and stripperish.
If you haven't sewn much start with some inexpensive t-shirt material and make a simple tube dress, two oblong pieces of fabric cut to your width and the length you want, you can sew inwards an inch or two at the waistline for a bit of shape if you want and some elastic around the top. Once you have the hang of that you can try it again with the more expensive spandex.

I have made some of my own costumes. I'm not fantastic but I can do it. I started by taking apart costumes I owned, tracing them onto muslim so I'd have patterns and then cutting them out in the fabric I wanted them in and sewing them back together. One thing with a lot of the stripper costumes that really helps though is having access to a serger.
Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

this.
a good pattern company that makes alot of "swimwear" and lingerie patterns is kwiksew, they do some nice bras, bustiers and stuff, though their patterns tend to be a little advanced. i've been sewing for years, and some of their stuff still confuses me.
i make lots of little pleated skirts, waistbands with pleated strips of fabric on them...they're so great.

try modifying simple bras and old costumes first if youre not really experienced to build up skill and confidence level for more advanced and complex designs.stretch fabrics dont give away sewing mistakes as much as eg satin would

Good info here.
I sometimes will make things for myself. I've made and mended simple items in my wardrobe here and there as necessary. I'd suggest learning and perfecting the "rolled hem."
I've made alot of my own costumes. I also buy really plain dresses and then either hand bead or sequin them, which is extremely time consuming, but worth it. Its nice to have custom pieces. It will set you apart from the rest of the girls.

I used to take a lot of my shirts and cut them up to just under my breast and cut a slit in the back and tie it. then wore a matching thong. my shirts were usually the type that said something....nothing plain. my favorites were WANT ME? and another said BITCH we went through the rockstar phase where we cut slits in the front of the shirt so a bikini top (or bare skin) could kinda show through...
My background is fashion design and I have made costumes for hair salon, drag queens and exotic dancers. I'm not sure why you see them as aliespress.com but I do not buy from there. Just offering my services, thanks for your response
