Anything with glitter is a mess... stay away from it.

Crystals are fun, but again I'd stay away from them until you have some basic pieces already. The crystals that are put on with metal backings can be a pain in the butt it the metal prongs start snagging on things. The glue on crystals sometimes fall off... and dark marks are left where they once were.

I'm not a huge fan of sequins... they fade and seem to always remind me of old costumes.

Stretchy materials are great. If you are on a budget go with black because you don't have to worry so much about stains showing up.

Stripper shoes have gotten really cheap in terms of how they are made. Look at the soles and try to find some where the rubber soles match up to the shoes or taper off so the rubber doesn't tear away. Also, buy something with at least a 4" heel.

I guess I prefer costumes that are low maintenance for my house dancing costumes.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

Do you know what kind of club you're going to be working at yet? Like is it a topless, pastie or bikini, or full nude club? That can make a difference in determining what you wear sometimes because of the laws. For example, Las Vegas is mostly topless and the girls are required to wear t-back thongs (so that they give wide enough coverage in the back).

Also, is it a gown club? This isn't so much about the law as it is about the image the club wants to present (high class atmosphere). So long dresses are the norm (unless they have a special lingerie night or something).

nope, its a fully nude club. blue collar. most of the girls parade around in skimpy swimsuits that are uv reactive, for the most part.

Here's the advice I was given and wish I had listened to: "Don't buy a bunch of outfits when you first start because your tastes and style will change a lot in the first few months and you'll end up not wearing them"

    - I was a big offender; for some reason I bought these baby doll dresses all the same style but in 6 different colors; I never used them and to this day only wear two pieces

I did this too, except it was with a bunch of those Tony dresses and a ton of bikinis in every color of the rainbow. And omg, some of the stuff I bought.... just shameful... never saw the light of day.

You should bring back the suspender thong!

Wear it over a little crop top and throw some booty shorts over it. Oooh and some knee highs...you can have a whole 80's outfit!

Ditto. I don't have any of the outfits I bought in the first six months of dancing. And I thought I needed this whole vast selection, and I would buy outfits I didn't LOVE simply because I thought I needed them, and I would never wear them. I went through the trunk of my car a month ago and found all the old stuff, and I tried them on, and OH MY GOD what was I thinking.

Even now, I only have maybe eight or nine outfits total, and I do wear most of them fairly regularly (though every time I buy a new one I do tend to favor it over the others).

Just go basic, and find something in a style and color that really flatters you. Be picky. "Okay" won't cut it, and will be a waste of money.

Used to work with a girl who had this... BORAT! /cough

When I was new... I used to buy new outfits all the time because a lot of the girls I saw who made money had a whole variety of outifts...
These days... I still change depending on my mood... but I'll sometimes go for MONTHS where I only wear one particular outfit over and over and over.
My taste is definately WAY different than when I started.
