Yesterday I tried to text a merry Christmas message to a retired fav of mine. She always texts me on hollidays and this time I thought I would beat her to the punch. I sent off a very brief text and a few minutes later I received a response from her...in Portuguese! Now, in spite of spending a great deal of time hanging around with Brazilian strippers I don't read or understand Portuguese. The lady in question knows this. I texted her back with a "LOL" type of response reminding her that I was not her lawyer (she told me a few years ago that my cell number was almost the same as her lawyers).
A few minutes later I got a response asking who I was. The lady put her name in the message and I realized, to my shock, that it was not my retired fav that I had texted. I apologized to the lady and then went to check the number I had in my phone for her. Turns out I had two! Her name was spelled differently so they did not show up one after another on my list. Boy did I feel stupid.
The number I had texted was about five years old. At first I was a bit amazed that both the new owner and the previous one where both Brazilian but it really isn't that much of a stretch when you realize that half of the immigrants in the Boston area are from Brazil and many of them shop for things like cell phone service at the local Brazilian stores.
I texted the righ number a few hours later... I have not received a response yet but she is probably home in Brazil for the holidays...Guess it's time to clean up my "contacts" page...
