I can't believe nobody said it yet! Holy crap that movie is good! Dude, after that movie I want to BE a Na'vi! That movie was amazing! I had no idea they actually figured out how to do 3D!!! Stuff was flying at me! I actually had to duck a few times! Intense and awsome! That 3D shit is AMAZING!!!! I was blind as hell when I came out but man, that was good. I'm ready to learn how to run through the forest and kick some hyena/dog ass! I'm so hyped right now. I LOVE Zoe Saldana. I want to see more of her.

See it! See it! See it! But again you must see it in 3D!

It was on the blue side. I agree though. It's absolutely the best movie I think I've ever seen.

a technical triumph for sure. However, IMHO the implausibly 'politically correct' story line detracted from what 'might have been'.

Hopefully, as was the case with the Technicolor breakthrough of 'The Wizard of Oz', and as was also the case with the 'DykstraFlex programmed high speed camera motion' breakthrough of 'Star Wars', the 3D special effects technological breakthrough achieved for Avatar will become more of a 'standard feature' in other future films. However, given the 'outrageously high' cost of said 3D effects, this remains to be seen.

On a wider note, sociologically speaking, a major fantasy film like 'Avatar' was destined to be successful right now ... for the simple reason that, during hard economic times, people traditionally turn to fantasy for temporary relief from reality. This was also true of 'The Wizard of Oz' which premiered at the agonizing end of the 1930's depression, true of 'Star Wars' which premiered at the peak of Carter's late 70's 'economic malaise' recession, etc. While a few other fantasy films have made small attempts to 'cash in' on the fantasy film during hard times angle, until 'Avatar' there hasn't been a fantasy film that also included a Wizard of Oz-esque or Star Wars-esque technological 'WOW' factor to seal the deal. Thus, like the Wizard of Oz and Star Wars, Avatar is destined for film 'icon' status.

I saw Avatar on New Year's Day. I don't know if it was just because I was hungover, but all the swinging around and climbing in high places made me sick. I saw it in 3D. I asked my mom if she felt like the room was spinning at times, she said it was just me. It made me dizzy.

Anyway, the story sucked. The graphics were great.

Thumbs up Re: Avatar is amazing!

Yup I'm obsessed too! Can't wait to see it again. I knew I'd love it so I made sure I got to see it in IMAX! Sooo worth it. And I'm the type that's against high prices at the movie theater. I download all my movies. lol I'm definitely impressed both with the graphics and the story line. I think a lot of people are missing the real message here.

^^^^Yeah, I'm against the high price too and protested by bringing my own soda! Although, I did relent and get popcorn there.

I LOOOOOVE Johnny Depp so I'm gonna be all over Alice in Wonderland. I actually reached out to touch the cheshire cat! My Mom laughed at me! I would love to see Iron Man 2 in 3D! Matter of fact I want to see Sherlock Holmes in 3D so I can get REAL close to Robert Downey.....but that's another story.

I liked it and it's not even in the weird/artsy genre that I usually like. I can't believe I liked a sci-fi movie , but it's well done, so go see it already if you haven't.

I saw Avatar in 3D, will it be any different on a 3D Imax ? Other than the screen size. I've never seen an Imax movie. The closest Imax theatre to me is in Phoenix.

I went to see it to get out of the 110F day. Someone else I know had 3 attempts at watching it the same day due to the projector breaking down.

Some people are loving it a bit too much...

I guess I understand what the Vatican is saying about it but it doesn't change my mind. I don't listen to them anyways but I found it entertaining none the less to read it lol.

There was a report on CNN about people suffering from depression because they couldn't live on Pandora.

HELL YEAH! 3D actually works. That's the freaky part! It's like being on a drug because things come flying out at you! It's freakin' amazing! You will literally duck and gaze at the different levels of scenery and animals and weapons. Everything is shaded to alter your depth perception and make it freakishly close to real life.

I'm not sure if the Imax in phoenix has one of the curved Imax dome screens or the standard 52 x 72 ft flat screens. Either one, I'd still like to see it in Imax. Just the regular 3D was awesome. I'm holding out for a new TV with the 3D technology. Then I'm never leaving my house again lol
