About three months ago I started to help a couple of my girl-friends who were “technologically challenged” get set up doing webcams (some tech stuff, open accounts, take pics, Photoshop, set up blogs, and provide very limited “work” space) -I basically put together things I already knew with all the great info I learned here- With the exception of some minor ROOKIE mistakes, so far things have been going well. If possible I hope to expand what just was an ideal to make some money into a steady profitable business (I’m a full time professional doing this part time for extra income for now). Now that things are picking up I want to make sure that if I plan to do this for the long term, I do it RIGHT/PROFESSIONAL from the beginning. Some questions I hope you guys can help me with are…

    1. Right now all the money is going into the “studio account” aka my personal account and then I distribute the money on a weekly basis. Is there a better way to do this? Should I go to the bank and open a business account? This can potentially have big tax consequences I am not ready to face.

    2. Should I Incorporate the business into a LLC or a Corporation? Has anyone here done this before for an adult business? Has anyone use LegalZoom.com or any other similar service to incorporate a business?

    3. Are there any online resources or lawyers that specifically deal with Webcam studios? How expensive is it to hire a lawyer? As more girls come in I want to able to offer them some type of “contract” that specifies their pay and protects both of us. I’m thinking something similar to what modeling agencies do?

    4. Is there anyone here that is doing or thinking of doing the same type of business and want to collaborate on ideas or projects? I am willing to contribute energy, time and money with anyone who is as equally serious, hardworking and committed and as I am. Especially if you already have a proven track record.

Any help will be enormously appreciated! There is so much free porn out there that I really think that in a couple of years we are going to see a shift to more and more “virtual” live entertainment for paying customers. If done right there is already enough money in this industry for talent to not only perform but also help and manage future performers. Not to mention all the great technological advances/potential in the mobile-cell phone market that will thrive future business in this area.

    Thanks Again!
It fucks with me everytime I hear about girs working for studios. I guess they haven't gotten the memo. Alot of girls here on sw are independents .. I don't think they'd like the idea of someone *coughs* pimping/taking their money/making money off of them...however you wanna put it but umm...

As long as you're not trying to pimp ME you're good in my book.Just don't be disappointed If you get negative responses here..

You should most definetely get a business account.

Never used Legalzoom.com but my friend does the same thing and I remember her talking about getting a DBA... You might want to consult a lawyer and ask about this.

I'm thinking you'd need a adult entertainment lawyer. Don't know where you'd find one. I've looked and as far as I know there is none here in NC. If you find onE let me know.

As In having one of the girls here work for you? Don't hold your breath.

I don't think you'll get many supportive responses here because we are a community of women that come together to (freely) support and help each other. We're all on this board to ask questions and offer advice to those seeking information on how to get into this industry by themselves and not get ripped off by companies like yours. Many of the experienced girls have proven and shown the rest of us that one can enter this industry easily by themselves and in the way that maximizes profits the most. And working for a studio is not the way.

Yes I understand, sometimes it's hard to just get started. And for those who aren't familiar with technology, it can seem impossible with the signing up process, continuous printing and scanning, verifying, settling up blogs, getting traffic..etc..
So if you're really persistent to enter and profit from OUR industry, the only thing I can think of is just helping girls get set up for a one time fee. But even that's a stretch. But why should the performer have you be in charge of the money, allowing you to distribute it weekly? Thats just silly for a girl to do if you ask me.

It's like you're trying to make it appear as if you're working for the girls by giving your services, but really they're working for you. You're paying them, they're working for you.

Now if you're providing space for them to work, that's a different story. Some models do need a place to work because they live with their parents, or boyfriends..or whomever. This may be where you fit in. But either way I dont feel that it's necessary for all the money to go into your account and you distributing it. If you provide the space you should just charge a rent fee. They'll pay you a set amount monthly or whatever to be able to work in that space. All their earnings go into their account. And they'll pay you on their own.

In my personal opinion, it just sounds like you're broke and trying to cut into our money. We don't need your services. We're big girls, we can do it on our own. We don't need to pay someone else to do things we can do easily on our own. Whoever sits there in front of the camera for all those hours is the only one who should get paid. The people in front of the camera can successfully be the people behind the camera too.

Good luck on your business. It doesn't sound successful.

The big disadvantage is that you are not as well protected as incorporating with a LLC or Corp designation. Besides guaranteeing your Name Brand, the main thing that it allows you to do is open a business bank account which is what we want to do at least for now.

I am not sure if I was clear in my initial post but we are a group of friends who in a downturn economy have decided to pursuit other avenues of generating income. This is MONEY we are dealing with and it is only fair we are all protected. We are not by any means pimps or are we trying to recruit anyone outside our own social circle. The only people we are ‘exploiting’ (which it certainly feels that way at times depending on your perspective) is ourselves. We are all in college or finished college. Unfortunately there are many people (much smarter than us) that can’t afford to pay their mortgage or live their lives the way they want to because they lost their job or can’t find work. If we consciously CHOOSE to pursuit this way of making money, then we HAVE to do it right and we are simply asking for ADVICE from those who are most familiar.

Maybe I am wrong, but is Webcaming all about shaking your ass in front of computer for hours on end to make money and that’s it….”Start again tomorrow”…”Good luck”… Or is there something more to it? Is there a way (or can we MAKE a way) for smart, beautiful, educated performers to grow, move up and challenge themselves in other areas within this business model. I would like to think the latter and hope that just like every other sector of the entertainment field (adult and not), there are enough opportunities for people in front of the camera and those behind it.

Be interested to hear what others think about this…
And...You keep beating around the bush, what do you REALLY want? I told you, you might not get the responses you were hoping for. Noone on this board is going to "collaborate" and let you pimp them online/offline.. honestly you sound like a pimp. I call emz like I see emz, You might want to post some websites you work for/own/whatever like Christany suggested. Don't bother posting fake sites I'll investigate and If I find out it's some bull everyone will know.. Sowwy.
