    Default BBBBBRRRRrrrRRRRrRRRRRshivershiver

it's 30 degrees out, with a feels like of 26.

    I live in TAMPA, FLORIDA.

It's been like this all week. It's the longest it's ever been cold like this (days in a row) that I can remember and I was born here. I don't even own a heavy jacket.

I know all you people up north are like "oh, fuck YOU" lol, but we're not used to this. You guys would have fits if you could see our news stations right now. People are going NUTS.

The shitty thing is it's actually been cold enough to snow, but there's been no precipitation. It hasn't snowed here since 77.

Also, I actually like the cold. I don't get it very often so I find it novel and fun. This is just....... kinda odd.

I live in Illinois and 30 degrees during winter is considered warm. Right now it's below zero and the windshill is worse. I hate winter.

    lol, awww.

our citrus farms are suffering really bad right now too. They're prepared to stave off freezes for a few days at a time, but when it's cold for this long it's an uphill battle.

Well, here the average high for January is 70 and the average low is 52... and January is our coldest month on average.

Yeah, I just saw something on the news about the citrus farmers. Saying this will be the worst year for them in years. Stinks for everyone who likes oranges (I drink juice often).

You poor girl! 30 degrees is really cold for FLA. Its been 6 degrees here and I hate it !! I'd much rather be too hot than cold, so I really need to get the hell out of here.

They also showed on the news how a bunch of people have been ending up in the hospital because they're bringing their grills inside and burning them to keep warm. Then they get CM poisoning. A few other people burnt down their houses by leaving the stovetop on.

    *sigh*

Cold? COLD? You don't even know cold. Couple of hours north of here it has gotten to 40 degrees below zero for almost 2 weeks continuously. That's what I call cold. Thirty or twenty above (F) is just a bit too cool for an outdoor garden.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Wow! That is cold for Fl. We are downright balmy here in comparison, with highs in the mid 50's. It's like we traded weather for the winter or something.

I bet that is exciting I mean also uncomfortable but it would be cool to have a totally opposite climate than what you're used to!

Ive lived in Ohio for years and their 30 degrees is so different than the 30 degrees we've been dealing with here in Florida. Here its cold right down to the bone, terrible. Ugh Im so not used to this anymore. The car wash down the street sprayed their whole property..grass,the building, the sign, everything and ther property takes up a whole corner of an intersection. Was pretty cool to see, even for me, who grew up in snow. I cant imagine how natives felt! LOL

Aw Penny, I feel you - I'm in Central Fl (Orlando) and I agree - it's freezing! Literally...highs in the 30's are cold by anyone's standards.

Also, my roommates and I are too cheap to turn the heat up, so when it's 27 outside, it's 27 inside too! Haha! Glad I have a heating pad....

Orange Juice prices are going to climb again....(mind you, they really haven't recovered since the hurricanes in 2004/2005).

i moved from Cleveland to NOLA largely to be warm and i experienced 18 degree weather the other day. To make matters worse, the heater broke on the first floor of Hustler so i decided to go home early because my nipples got really cold . and the rest of me too, but especially my nips.

yea it was better today. and it should be like 50 tomorrow then crawl back up to 60 by wed so i guess ill survive. I hope so, my body seriously slows down when it gets cold. Im a total pussy and when the cold snap hit i went from seriously motivated to struggling to get to work by 10:30. This is why i moved away from the north!
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I was thinking about trying to finagle a short vacation to my place in Florida but never mind. It's not much warmer in the Tampa area than in friggin Ohio.

Honestly, when I was in CT and saw snow for my first time (I was 26) it didn't "feel" as cold as this. I can't explain it. It's the same as when I went to California for the Coachella music festival. It was 105 degrees and I SWEAR it felt cooler than a normal Florida summer day in the 90s. I guess our humidity just maximizes either extreme.

Trust me, all you people who live in the dry heat areas know NOTHING of "hot". I felt like a SUPERHERO in that Cali heat. People all around my bf and I were saying they felt like they were going to die and we were like "pfffffffffffffft". the humidity makes it soooo much more oppressive.

That is absolutely true in my experience. The humidity. I was miserable in the south. Prickly heat in the summer and trench foot in the winter because clothing wouldn't dry out.

Colorado opposite. Dry climate. Love it.

Finally! Starting to ease up a little. A 4 week deep freeze is quite enough. 2 feet of snow a few weeks ago is still laying around.

^^Humidity is awesome for skin and hair tho! Makes you look 10 years younger....which at my age I appreciate! lol

Speaking of the weather, I just moved back up north on Christmas Eve, and it hasn't been above freezing since Christmas day. It's also snowed EVERY day so far this year! BOOO!!! I'm sooooo not used to this shit.

    Sorry you are freezin'

I remember visiting Tampa in Jan. a few years ago and we just ended up trying to chase sun. It was more like 50's / lows 60s then .... but due to lack of research ( we assumed FL would be tank top + shorts Warm in Jan. ) , we just had to eventually go buy jackets and make the best of it. That's REALLY cold for you guys though.

^It's not just you. You have no idea how many tourists I see in January who are like "I THOUGHT THIS WAS FLORIDA!?!?!" Even when it's the normal 60ish range for Jan.

The one that really bugs me though, is when tourists come down in the summer and it's raining like crazy and they're like "I thought it was supposed to be sunny!!!!"

I mean, I know we're the "sunshine state" but Tampa is also the lightning capital of (at least) the US. There's a reason our Hockey team is called the Tampa Bay Lightning.
