    Default Finally got around to it... makeup tips?

    Hey there! I posted on here a few months ago about whether or not I could get by as a white girl with dreads. Well, since then I've bought a car, moved to a new state, and *drumroll please* cut off 7 years worth of hair!

    So, now I have a cute little brown pixie cut. I finally got around to contacting a club and setting up an audition. I'm gonna go down to Springfield, MA later this week/early next week to audition at 5th Alarm. I'm nervous as hell, particularly about lapdances, but I'm planning on getting there early and buying a few dances from a few different girls to see how it's done. Stage work doesn't scare me in the least.

    The biggest thing that worries me is makeup! I was a total tomboy growing up, never learned how to do much more than eyeliner and basic lipstick. What else should I be doing? Eyeshadow, powder, eyebrows? Ack!

    Thanks a ton!

    Watch some of Michelle Phan's makeup tutorials, they're really great.

    She uses designer/department store makeup but you can achieve similar results with quality drugstore brands, too.

    Ricebunny. Lol. I had no idea she was notable.
    I've known her on xanga for ages... how did I miss that? >>;

    Agreed though. She has a lot of pretty natural-looking make up tutorials.

    First off, congrats on all of your recent life changes! I'm not a dancer, yet, but I do know a thing or two about makeup!! Hope this helps:

    1. Definitely check out tutorials on youtube for tips on application and look ideas.

    2. Basic Essentials:

    • Liner (in black and brown). As far as drugstore brands, I would go with Prestige waterproof liners. They're super creamy and last a long time!

    • A base. Eye bases prevent creasing eyeshadow, and hide imperfections on your lids (pigmentation issues, veins, etc). You can get eye bases, or primers as some people call them, in neutral colors to match your skin tone, or colors to go in place of an eyeshadow. If you're a fan of neutral looks, I highly suggest MAC's "Bare Study" paint pot. They're a bit pricey, but this is one product that you can't find at a drugstore.

    • A dark shadow in black or brown. This should be applied over eyeliner on the lids (but not in your waterline!) to set it and make it last longer. It can be applied with a small angle brush. I recommend the MAC 266, but you can find something similar at the drugstore. This also gives the liner a softer, smokier look and allows you to experiment with winging your liner out. An awesome liner tutorial:

    If you need any more ideas or have questions, don't hesitate to ask! I am happy to be of help

    xoxo

    Don't forget to always apply moisturizer first then at end of the night remove makeup and put on a night cream. Make up ages the skin, so this is very important.
