    Crossfingers Dancer Mantra

What's your dancer mantra for the next time you work?

    Skeptical? Try it!

Sometimes we need to psyche ourselves out.

Before you go back to work think of three things that you will do for that shift.

    An example:

    1. Smile until it hurts!
    2. Don't let negative people get to me.
    3. Ask every single customer that I can for a dance.

What's your mantra going to be the next time you work?

    great thread idea.

i tell myself to "go hard"
i try to think about it in everything i do, to go at it seriously and not fuck around and get your shit done. that mostly translates for me as approaching customers and going after the highest sale possible.

I use "fake it till you make it" alot. I guess that's a pretty widely used mantra. I'm pretty confident, but I'm not naturally peppy and bubbly, so I have to keep reminding myself to put it out there until it becomes my automatic stripper mode.

good call. and it will. i've been at my club for over 2yrs now and people sometimes think i'm on coke i'm so energetic at work. it gets me a lot of sales though. which made me think of a new mantra "bubbly banks!"

Mine is similar to Laurcon's, my mantra is Walk Hard, yes, from the Dewey Cox comedy.

I just try and channel his energy and love of entertaining,no matter what shenanigans may be transpiring behind the scenes!

Mine was, "I'm here, so I may as well earn as much as I can before I get to go home."

When I first started dancing, I wasted a lot of time: chatting with the other dancers, doing my homework or reading a book in the dressing room, trying on outfits, fussing with my hair and make-up, etc. If I just wasn't in the mood to hustle, then I didn't... whatever money fell in my lap was great.

When I got serious about maximizing my take home, I cut out all of the wasted time and spent all of it hustling. I maybe changed outfits once a night, and that was the same time I went to call my bf... there was no more sitting in the dressing room for any reason. And any time I got bored, tired, upset, or otherwise didn't want to work, I would just remind myself that I have to finish the shift, and if I have to be there, I may as well be making as much money as I can... it would suck even more to stay, unhappy, until 3am and walk out with less money.

i usually boost my confidence thinking im one of the hottest girls here, it would be a shame to let the fat/ugly girl walk out with more money than me. that usually gives me a competitive streak to chat up as many people i can

I use the "fake it till you make it," too. I also focus on just doing the best job that I can as opposed to focusing on money.

Mine is always "Eyes on the prize." I'm an obsessive list maker and one of them is a list of specific concrete goals (fix boyfriend's violin for him, take vacation in Austin in June, down payment for new car) that can only be achieved through financial success so whenever I'm in a crap mood I remind myself of what's currently next on that list and visualize crossing it off and think about how great that will feel. That always gets me off my ass. That and the desire to never be dangerously poor and desperate again. Financial security is always my number one goal and I'm almost there!

I just got back from a personal development seminar and one of the mantras I adapted is:

    Success Starts with ME.
I am here to put a smile on guy's faces by being an excellent entertainer. I am growing my stripping business so I can have the freedom of time, money, and place. I got into this business so I can walk away with something REAL.

Britney, I stole your mantra--wrote it down on a small index card, and kept it in my bag--took it out and read it during the slow times on yesterday's shift. I have a hard time staying motivated to hustle, and this kept me on track! Thanks

    1. Be patient ( the hardest time for me is 6-8 because it's not super busy yet ) .
    2. Put as little physical labor in as possible ( I have to move slow, dance " easy " ect. because I currently have to work 3 days in a row usually to make travel worth it ).
    3.. Close the club ( I don't ever leave early ).
^ That's really it for the last couple of weeks.

    Britneys quote is excellent!

My mantra for last year or so has been "Push it Shake it" because I can say it so many ways to the rhythm when I'm running, working out, or driving or whatever (Push it push it then you shake it, first you push and then you shake. shake shake shake and push it out)

I actually do the opposite of most of these. For awhile, I'd intensely talk myself up before work. But then it got the point where I'd psych myself out in a negative way.

So now, I basically pretend that I'm going to work just to get away from school--that's the attitude I aim for. However, I pair that attitude with not spending any time in the dressing room, constantly talking to customers, and hustling! So I come across to customers like "I'm just happy I get to party and not be in school right now!!" but I have my competitive edge simmering just underneath. It seems to work for me!

One big thing that helps me stay in the zone: NEVER watch the other girls onstage! If there is a dancer onstage that you think is entertaining...no matter how bored you are, do NOT watch her! I didn't realize this, but it used to take me out of my zone constantly. I'd get caught up in the girl's performance, stop paying attention to the customers, and start comparing myself to the girl onstage. Bad!!

I used to do this soooo often. Once I realized I was doing it, I started to stop because it's a waste of time and turns the customer away from you and onto HER. You don't want this to happen-you want the custy focusing on YOU as much as possible.

My mantra: I am the only one who influences my money, so I must do the best I can!
My other mantra: Time is money here-so don't waste it. This is quite literal in the stripping business haha
