    Default Forgetting somebody

What do you do when you forget you've met a customer and you've just introduced yourself like you never met him? Then he says he met you before and he must not have been that memorable to you?

In my defense it may be because months have gone by, but I need a cute way to make a joke about it and build rapport with him again. I see so many different faces that I'm sure to do this a few more times.

I do this at my full time job (photographer) I meet and remeet hundreds of people...I tell them the truth...I usually say "I knew I've seen/met you before but Im atrocious with names it must be my hair dye seeping into my brain...im sorry don't take it personally" I just mock my own intelligence and they think it's cute then I try to make a special effort to remember their name for the next time!

i usually say that i drink to much.

yea this is a bad problem for me. like i am horrible with people. i have even re introduced myself to the same customers twice in one night. i think my all time most embarassing moment with my poor facial recognition was when i started hustling someone, and then he told me he was a club employee. ugh. horrible.

so yea, i just say sorry , i have had a lot of alcohol between then and now... i need a memory refresher. then quickly try to get their mind on something unrelated to the fact that i completely failed to recognize them.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

That is so embarrassing! I hate it when our bartender goes and sits somewhere in the club and I think he is a customer. I've never gone up to him, but I've fooled myself probably 10 times thinking, Oh, a new guy walked in! Great!

I'm glad someone brought this up. I do it ALL the time. I usually pull the "omg I knew you looked familiar but its so dark in here/ been such a crazy hectic night" then apologize. Acting ditzy and apologetic usually works.
I'm horrible with names and faces. I try to force my self to say the guy's name in my head several times and remember a fact about him or think his name is "John" just like my dad/friend/brother. Sometimes it works but not always. Unless a guy spends a great deal of money on you, impresses you in another way or does something incredibly offensive its easy to forget a face.

I have SO tried to hustle an employee before. Multiple times lol. Meh, I have a short attention span.

I also blame it on the bleach and a terrible memory. Usually once I start talking to them though I can recall details and that seems to soothe things over.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

I had just started a club on nightshift was there early. I tried to hustle the day manager. What, he was older, dressed well, sitting alone and sipping scotch, seemed like the perfect target, right?Haha, he let me try and work him for a minute until he told me. We had a laugh over it and he tipped me onstage.

    Oops.

I used to blame it on the dark and poor night vision.

I usually tell them, "unfortunately I meet sooo many guys... I mean, hundreds every week... that I really only remember the really bad ones, you know, the super ugly ones or really rude ones... so I'm sorry but take it as a good thing I can't remember! We can go get re-aqainted right though!" and smile.

" I met you before?" I say slowly, as if maybe I'm teasing, maybe not, then, " No way! Prove it!" and say it with a 'fake' bitchy attitude. That usually gets them to remind me of the conversation we had or the last time we were there.

That is normally enough to jog my memory. I'll complete the story they're telling or add in something else we talked about and hopefully evade getting back to their name.

Sometimes they'll say it while reminding me of what we spoke of the last time.

If not, I'll subtly slip in a new nickname I've donned them so that next time I'm much more likely to remember them by that (I associate it with some factoid about them/their hobby/etc).
