    Default gluten-free recipes

so i have to maintain a pretty strict diet because i can't eat gluten. however, i'm super lazy when it comes to cooking and always get hungry during my shifts but can't eat anything at work. any ladies who are gluten-free or familiar with something quick i can put together to eat at work (also assuming it'll probably be sitting in my bag for awhile so it can't spoil)? i eat salads a lot and get sick of them so alternatives would be nice. i have a hard time coming up with something tasty yet not repetitive...i feel like i'm eating the same things all the time! any suggestions?? other recipes would greatly be appreciated too (but nothing too complicated, i'm not great in the kitchen, lol)

im a fan of those nut thin crackers...i know they are gluten free. they are also pretty low in calories...i think the entire box is under 500 calories... and you dont need to eat an entire box of crackers. my favorite flavor is pecan... the box looks like this:
then you could get some sort of dip or something to put on the crackers... something like hummus (looked it up, nothing in a very simplified version of hummus has gluten, but this might change if you get a very processed brand-- look thru the ingredient list. chick peas are ok though.), goats cheese if you eat dairy (although this is higher in calories), or some other dip-- a store like whole foods should have a good selection of dips to browse through, just find one that doesnt have any sort of gluten and isnt crazy in the calorie department).

also, i know whole foods (man i hate that i have mentioned this store twice... i am not trying to advertise for them, but right now i live a 5 min walk away from it so i always find myself there) has a gluten free section with all sorts of gluten free goodies. they also have a gluten free section in the bakery area... so you can get gluten free baked goods. WF is kinda pricey, if your city has a co-op i recommend going there instead to save money and also its a better cause, a lot of co-ops are filled with all sorts of health foods and foods designed for people on a strict diet.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

thanks! one of the reasons i was looking for recommendations is because i've tried some bad gluten free alternatives but they're expensive so when they're not good it's such a waste! we have something similar to whole foods by me and it's equally as expensive and i hate spending 6 dollars on a frozen meal (i'll spend 1000s on clothes but i'm just cheap when it comes to spending money food) i haven't found good crackers yet so i'll definitely try these and search for a co-op, i live in so cal so there has to be something around.

Corn chips and salsa. Anything with potatoes will keep you full. Also anything with gluten free pasta which you can find at fresh and easy or whole foods. I always have cashews or almonds in my locker.
Wouldn't it be nice if clubs would hire housemoms who actually know something about health and how to stay skinny?

seriously! i love the tinkyaka pasta but is it good after being in the fridge and being reheated? places in general need to be more gf friendly...if i'm at work and i get hungry i get tired and thus don't work as well...and if i do eat something w/ gluten i become really sick and can't work at all for at least a few days. i'd ask for a salad but i guess i'd have to bring my own dressing. you think they'd be more accommodating with various diets because happier and healthier dancers equal better hustling...but then again maybe that's just me...we need dancers managing the clubs!!

What shifts do you work? Why don't you try eating a good meal before work and bring a snack with you. I love almonds and dried cranberries.

Ziploc steamer bags are awesome. Throw some wild rice and veggies in one, a piece of salmon in the other, and toss them in the microwave for a nice steamed meal.

I've been experimenting with Gluten free, low carb, anti candida bread recipes for a while now. This is the finished product and it's absolutely delicious. It's very low carb( less then 2 grams per slice, this is because most of the carbs are the flours are fibre, and they don't affect blood sugar), gluten, sugar and yeast free. And coconut flour is potently anti candida. I've used British temperature, but converters are easily available online. Enjoy!!!

    Recipe

2 cups of ground golden flax seed (If you can't find ground, buy the flax and put into blender until it turns into flour)
    2 tablespoons of coconut flour
1 teaspoon of salt (I use pink Himalayan)
    1 tablespoon of baking powder
    4 eggs (free range, organic)
    A pinch of stevia
    1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt
1 tablespoon of dried mixed herbs
oil (any you like, I use olive or coconut)
    Water
    Sunflower seeds etc (Optional)

Preheat oven to 200 C. Take the flax seed and put it in a large mixing bowl along with the coconut flour, salt, baking powder, stevia, garlic and herbs. Mix well for a few seconds.

Take your eggs and break them onto the mixture. let them sit there for a second.

Get the cup you used to measure flax seed and fill it 1/3 of the way full with oil. Now fill it right to the top with water (on top of the oil) put this in your mixture.

Get your cup again and add another 1/3 cup of water, you can also use soya or any other non dairy milk. Add this and beat the whole mixture together until it's thoroughly mixed. Let it sit for a few mins.

While it's resting get a loaf pan or whatever you have to bake it in. get some baking paper, grease it with organic, grass fed butter and line pan with it. Pour mixture into pan and spread it out evenly, flattening the surface with a spoon. If you want to use seeds or anything put them on top of the mixture and bake for aprox. 45 mins.

After 30 mins keep checking it by inserted a knife into the mixture.. if it comes out clean, it's done. You want the bread to be pretty dry.

Depends on the quantity. If the wild rice is precooked, you usually only have to microwave the other items for under 8 minutes. A chicken breast for example will be steamed in 7 minutes. The steam bags are amazing, I use them all the time.

I'm always on the go as well, and being a competitive athlete amongst other things, I need a ton of clean food daily, without having the time to prepare it usually, so the steam bags have saved my ass on an almost daily basis!
